Picking Mark Appel over Kris Bryant is looking more depressing by the day... Bryant with 9 HRs this spring already. Looks like he will be the next superstar 3rd baseman. Complete Fail by Luhnow
Really? He was the 1st pick, is 23-years-old and can't crack the major league rotation. He as never had an era under 3.50 and by all accounts looks like will be no better than a back of the rotation guy one day.
You couldn't post this is the minor league thread, or the spring training thread, or the Luhnow thread. If you wanna unnecessarily start a thread just to complain do it in the GARM, we don't play that crap over here in the Astros forum.
Where is unnecessary? Is it nice there? Actually "your comment in unnecessary" sounds like a Morrissey album title. Good job.
We shouldn't judge when they aren't even in the majors, and if we start complaining about the times when we missed a superstar in the MLB draft, we'll probably shoot ourselves, because it happens to every team, and usually every year.
I don't know how many times this needs to be stated, but Bryant wasn't even in the conversation. It was between Appel and Gray. We weren't going to potentially pick two 3B in a row, ever. Especially with the need for starting pitching. You can start as many threads (please don't) on the topic as you want and this won't change. That doesn't even take into account that neither player has set foot on a major league field yet.
Spring. Training. Will Bryant be a superstar? Maybe. Will Appel be a bust? Maybe, but there's no possible way to tell at this point. We can come back to this in 4 or 5 years.
I don't have a problem with judging guys that still aren't projected to be MLB regulars or even to say Bryant is worth more now than Appel at this moment. Appel is one of the best values from that draft so far. To have missed one guy in a baseball draft, is not a big deal due to the uncertainty of amateur players.
Can this be locked? We've covered this all in the minor league thread... no need to let a poster go GARM on us...
At this point in their careers, I have as many regular season home runs as Bryant. While Bryant may prove to be a superstar, let's see what happens.
By the math, someone rated this a one star thread, the OP countered with a five so it was showing three. Giving it another one star knocked it back to two.
Dallas McPherson If something like this needs to be discussed, we have a minor league thread and also the Luhnow thread would be perfect place The good thing is the Astros are about to become a lot better and more popular The bad thing is this forum is about to explode with crap like this
