Nick Johnson under pressure (albeit not exactly against a top team or the playoffs ) http://youtu.be/xRRCC1vyNqU
I'd rather see Brewer start at PG than Johnson. Regardless, Johnson will be given the DMo treatment in the playoffs even if he produces down the stretch.
Why mess with the band of brothers chemistry? Our second unit is a strength. Leave well enough alone. Brewer is the perfect 6 man. We need his game changing energy to continue to come off our bench for years to come.
I say give Johnson minutes, but it is very likely that Brewer will be starting at SG going into the playoffs. Harden Brewer Ariza DMo Howard

start a rookie who cant even ball in the dleague in the most crucial part of the regular season? only if it gets us the first pick im down
I'm not crazy about Nick Johnson. I really like him long term, I think he can easily replaces what Beverly does, just not now. Needs more seasoning and has to work on his shot. Having said that our hand may be forced. Having Terry and Prigioni guarding the stud PG's in the west is a recipe for disaster. I would stay start harden at PG, but I don't want him guarding the PG's either. I think you throw Johnson out there right now, start him and give him minutes. If he is a complete disaster then we will have to go with Prigs and Terry in the playoffs.
Throw him into the fire, give him good minutes and give the rook a chance, maybe he can make something happen.
I agree with the op, he could definitely give us some energy that is lacked when I see Jason Terry coming in and shooting poorly.
He was very good in the Orlando league, 15.8ppg (on 44.6% shooting) 6.2rpg 5apg. That's when they were using him as a PG/playmaker. He certainly wasn't good in Vegas while playing SG next to Canaan though. As far as him getting significant PT with the Rockets while Bev is out, I don't see it happening. His inability to hit jumpers is gonna hold him back, along with his high turnover rate. If he can improve in those areas, I think he can be a solid player for this team in the future.
He should definitely get some minutes. Maybe 10 per game. But with the 2nd unit alongside Brewer and Smith. There's no way you start him. He's not a good 3-point shooter and that's what we need offensively with the starting unit. Terry should start, but his minutes should remain the same. Roughly around 20. We can't wear him out with the playoffs approaching.
