Chris Conley WR, Georgia Don't know if this guy has been mentioned yet but he has been noticed by NFL teams for a few years now. Has a 4:35 40 and good hands. Also has a 45" vertical so has some athleticism. Originally projected to go in the 5-6 range, is now in the 4-5 and could very likely be taken in the 3rd. Oh, and the Texans visited with him at the Georgia pro day the other day. And for an hour after the meet.

i've seen 4 mocks with cooper dropping to us compared to a month ago where only one showed him dropping. I'm keeping my crack pipe dream alive! if dorial green didn't have justin blackmon issues, that would be a nice haul. then again, he'd be gone by pick 4 if he was a decent human.
Brett Kollmann's scouting report on Bud Dupree - <iframe width="560" height="315" src="https://www.youtube.com/embed/oXYLlrJ5OFY" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe> Amari Cooper v/ Jalen Collins <iframe width="560" height="315" src="https://www.youtube.com/embed/94RNWpmncaM" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe>
I'm not as high on Dupree as Brett seems to be, his football instincts just seem to be lacking and I know that's one of those "intangibles" that I'm not usually a fan of talking about but he's a senior that is still a lot more raw than most top players that leave school early. To me that's a bit concerning. His short arms are also an issue. Watching him run into lineman and get gobbled up over and over again due to complete lack of technique and instincts reminds me of why Whitney Mercilus struggled so much when it came to pass rushing early in his career. I think if he's still on the board and the Texans go Dupree, there's a fairly good chance that he doesn't give us much for a few years and it would make talking to Texans fans unbearable till he finally started doing something in a few years. For the sanity of this and every Texans board I hope we go with an instant production player that manages to stay healthy rather than a raw guy for the future.
He actually reminded me of Mercilus as well in the way he can get locked up by offensive lineman. However I do think he has more burst than Mercilus so he could possibly get coached up and become a more effective pass rusher. He's also better at dropping into coverage.

<blockquote class="twitter-tweet" lang="en"><p>The Texans get 3 compensatory picks for the upcoming draft: one fifth-round pick and two sixth-round picks.</p>— Mark Berman (@MarkBermanFox26) <a href="https://twitter.com/MarkBermanFox26/status/580173173586567168">March 24, 2015</a></blockquote> <script async src="//platform.twitter.com/widgets.js" charset="utf-8"></script>
Compensatory Selections 5th, (174th overall) 6th, (211th overall) 6th, (216th overall) Maybe there's a Terrell Davis or Tom Brady in there. Somebody who looks at more tape than I do please look at: Eli Harold*, OLB/DE, Virginia (possible OLB to replace Reed in the 2nd if we go WR in the 1st) Height: 6-3. Weight: 247. Projected 40 Time: 4.60. Projected Round (2015): 2-3. 3/7/15: Harold was very impressive in 2014. He totaled 54 tackles with 14.5 tackles for a loss, seven sacks, two passes batted, one interception and a forced fumble. The junior had strong showings against UCLA, Louisville and North Carolina. Harold is fast and athletic on the edge. He needs to add weight to remain in a 4-3 defense in the NFL. Harold worked out well at the Combine, but needs to get bigger. 8/23/14: Harold made a big impact as an edge rusher for Virginia in 2013. The first-year starter totaled 8.5 sacks with 15 tackles for a loss, 51 tackles, two forced fumbles and a pass broken up. His season was highlighted by a three-sack game against rival Virginia Tech. Harold is a fast and athletic edge rusher, but probably will have to move to linebacker if he can't gain a significant amount of weight. As a freshman backup in 2012, Harold had two sacks. David Johnson, RB, Northern Iowa ( H-back now and the possible heir apparent for Foster in the 4th) Height: 6-1. Weight: 224. 40 Time: 4.50. Projected Round (2015): 2-4. 3/14/15: If you're looking for this year's Alfred Morris or Zac Stacy, look no further than Johnson. The Northern Iowa wide receiver turned running back could be a huge steal in the 2015 NFL Draft. Johnson is a powerful runner and an excellent receiver out of the backfield who will be a mismatch nightmare going against linebackers and safeties. Johnson was impressive enough in 2014 to earn an invitation to the Senior Bowl and made the most of the opportunity. He was a downhill runner who showed a burst to hit the hole all week. Johnson runs with power and is tough to bring down with his ability to pick up yards after contact. Sources from multiple teams told WalterFootball.com that they were very impressed with Johnson. At the Combine, he ran fast and was impressive. 2014 was the senior's best as he ran for 1,553 yards and picked up almost another 1,000 yards in all-purpose yardage. As a junior, Johnson ran for 1,286 yards with 393 yards receiving. He ran for 1,021 yards and 18 touchdowns in 2012.
A few things in Harold's scouting report stand out to me. "Better pass rusher than run defender and needs to do a better job holding the edge." and "Limited experience dropping in space or playing in reverse." It feels like he'll be more suited for Mercilius's and Clowney's position than as a Reed replacement. Reed was dog **** at rushing the QB, but he was good at setting the edge and in pursuit. He could also cover the RB out of the backfield. Hopefully we can find someone that can do what Reed did, but also provide some type of pass rush. <iframe width="560" height="315" src="https://www.youtube.com/embed/ggykZAy4OvU" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe>
Well sure (though that was more Anthony Barr than Mack), everyone is off every now and again. Hell a few years back Brett Kollmann was going on about how Matt Barkley was going to be a franchise QB and he's a hell of a lot better at player analysis than I am. If I was never wrong, I'd have a job working for an NFL franchise instead of commenting on a basketball blog about NFL players.

Small Texans note from UT Pro-Day. Edmonds will likely go undrafted but had a pretty productive senior season. 2nd on team in tackles (131), tied for 2nd in TFL (13), and tied for 3rd in sacks (5.5). Hope the Texans take a look at Jordan Hicks and Quandre Diggs as well. Hicks in the 4th or 5th would be a nice addition next to Cushing. Think Diggs can be a player at nickelback, can PR too.

They need to package a few of those late round picks and move up in some of the mid rounds. Those are too many late round players that won't be able to make the team.
Tons of talent, but has never been capable of putting it on the field. Maybe a change of scenery and having Watt and Wilfork on the line could change that.
