Anyone have any good recommendations on a nice beach getaway for the weekend to take the loved one? I am wanting to avoid Galveston and possibly go further south but also avoiding the popular areas like South Padre, Port A, ect. Not looking to break the bank either.

All the travel sites I have been going to only offer the cheap hotels far from the beach.

check vrbo or airbnb after you find an area you want to go to. Maybe surfside or further south towards corpus christi. Not gonna find nicer beaches til you head east towards gulf shores, pensacola, destin

Boliver Peninsula is *not* crowded. Based on your criteria, I'm not sure why you'd leave that off the list of possibilities, unless you simply want to go somewhere new.

Rent a house. For Bolivar try Swedes rental http://www.swedesrealestate.com/ . We've had great success with them. For other places, try VRBO.

Note that the Texas coast is basically one big barrier reef. Many of the places are state parks, so you can't go there unless you camp. What's left (that has houses/hotels) is largely what you eliminated in your post. So, I'm confused, unless you go camping.

Yea I guess I am just being too picky. I just want to avoid the leftover spring break crowds and stay at a place that is right on the beach and somewhat more private. I will check out VRBO. Thank you guys

Outer Banks, NC is a good choice if you're willing to fly to Norfolk, VA first.

Really unique place, with wild Spanish horses roaming the beach.
