I hope the Thunder don't make the playoffs this year. That way Harden will likely win the MVP and the Thunder can go ahead and draft the Rockets next great player.
This used to be the case, but the NBA recently changed this criteria. (I assume in order to be more universal when a lockout year occurs vs a full season.) basketball-reference has not updated their requirements page. They are wrong. Both NBA.com and ESPN show the active criteria. The criteria is now 70% of the games your team played. So, Westbrook needs 58 games to qualify -- pretty much in the bag.
Scoring leader must play 70% of his team's games. 82 game season = 58 minimum games played Westbrook's total is currently 55, so he'll qualify. I wouldn't want dude getting hurt for James to win. Harden can still overtake him and hopefully win MVP too. Main thing, of course, is Rockets keep winning.
