In a wide open Republican field, I think anything is possible. What Cruz has going for him in a race that could include a lot of other big names like Marco Rubio, Paul Ryan, Scott Walker, Rand Paul, and Jeb Bush, what Cruz has is a dedicated group of support that I'm not sure the others entirely have at this stage. That can change, but for now I think anything is possible, and he may have the oratory skills to outmaneuver the others.
You have inside knowledge about what is going to happen in the future? I want in! Whose going to win the NBA title this year?
You really think "oratory skills" can win him the GOP nomination over the others? LOL! He has to build a credible campaign organization which means drawing the best and brightest GOP operatives and massive amounts of money. Anti-establishment guys in the GOP don't do very well at this level. Cruz has some fanatical followers, but that doesn't translate to winning a party nomination. Ask Ron Paul. He's also made 100 years worth of enemies. Forget Rubio and Paul Ryan. They don't even deserve mention. Jeb Bush and Rand Paul are the main guys Cruz is competing with at this point. They will kick him in the rear. Things are no longer as wide open as you think but I'll give you this: I still haven't wrapped my brain around Jeb Bush yet. It's hard to accept he's the favorite right now despite his "war chest". Something doesn't feel right. I'll go with the field and say a governor will emerge and go against Hillary.
gonna be exhausting having to carry Hillary's water Spoiler <iframe width="590" height="332" src="http://launch.newsinc.com/?type=VideoPlayer/Single&widgetId=1&trackingGroup=69016&siteSection=washingtontimes_pp_nws_pol_sty_vmppap&videoId=28751163" frameborder="no" scrolling="no" noresize marginwidth="0" marginheight="0"></iframe>
No one in the GOP ever promotes any positive policies. They are always regressive: cut this, go back to that, bomb someone. FAUX, the entire party and Cruz in particular are designed to obstruct any changes to the status quo earned under Bush/Clinton by the 1%. Not only will the GOP lose the Presidential election, they don't want to win it. That way they can continue to blame the failures of government on the Executive Office while they act in every way to bring about the failures. Cruz doesn't want to win, he wants a pulpit to scream regressive policies louder than anyone else so that the entire narrative moves to the right. He's just a mouthpiece, a paid advocate, a constructed personality, a self-promoting sock puppet.
Concussion issues? "Pedophile Island"?? The quality of these scorching #HotTakes is great and it's only 2015!
What's the over/under in Texas on a Cruz primary win? Texas Sen. Cornyn Won't Back Cruz In 2016 Primary Bid When asked if he would support Cruz's run financially, Cornyn responded, "Nope."
You might end up being right, I'm just not going to dismiss the guy. And others should either, I'm not even a fan of his in the least bit, I just think he has potential that others don't believe in due to the extremist positions. Some might have said the same of Obama given his past. Remember the whole Jeremiah Wright BS? Had that came out earlier, Obama could have also been portrayed as a leftist-extremist. Sometimes politicians can overcome if they have the right kind of message that can puncture through. Cruz is a tough nut, will he be tough enough for the long haul? We'll have to wait and see. And you are right, Jeb Bush cannot be the favorite. He will have to build a campaign entirely about trashing his brother's presidency. That doesn't sound like a winning strategy to me. Every Republican in the field can just say "look what the previous Bush did to us, he led us to Obama", and Jeb will have to agree with them to get ahead. And I just honestly don't think he will trash his brother for an campaign to try and be president. Doesn't add up. Republicans have been trying to get rid of the stink of Bush since 2008, he's the least involved former president with his own party I've ever seen in my life. He's so out of the political game because everyone knows he's toxic. To bring his brother back into the mix does not add up.
There is no comparison between Obama 8 years ago and Cruz now. Stylistically and rhetorically, they are polar opposites. Obama's message was positive and he went out of his way to build relationships and connect with everyone he could. Cruz has gone out of his way to burn bridges across the aisle AND within his own party. This isn't what presidents do right before running for president. Losers do that. Cruz made his own bed. If Jeremiah Wright had become an issue earlier on, it could have killed Obama's candidacy. But it didn't. Regardless, I don't see the parallel with Cruz. Bush/Clinton (II) next year would be such a monumental disappointment that words cannot describe it. I will throw both hands up in the air. In the next 4-6 months, we'll find out which 2-3 guys have a legit chance to run as "the alternative". This is where a parallel to Obama might come in. He began edging out John Edwards, who then turned to harsh left-wing rhetoric before sinking like stone.
We're all hoping he wins. Never underestimate the ability of Republicans to choose someone who is unelectable.
You're forgetting these three parts of the equation: Every other Repub candidate = batpoop crazy Repub old guard money > culture warrior fanaticism (Repubs desire to win > ideological principles) x (Losing close > losing by a lot + down ballot races + repub candidates x turnout in red states)
If we are going on gut feelings, I think Scott Walker is going to win. And I thought the same thing before he started polling strongly. If I'm wrong, I could see another governor (like Pence - IN) winning.
Based on Cruz's track record, there's a greater than 50% chance that anything he says is not necessarily true... Link
Speaking of Teddyboy BBWWWAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Ted Cruz going on Obamacare
