Quality big men already have jobs. Who are you referring to?

I wouldn't quite call him a project, at least you know what your getting. No offense a project is a guy you think you can mold, and shape to your likeing IMO. Mcgee is, exactly what he is.. I wouldnt expect anymore from him. If we got more great if not we knew what we were buying. Larry sanders is more of a project IMO.

just read greg oden is trying a comeback

    I'm kidding about oden

Better quality big than Dorsey. Especially against teams we will be facing in postseason if we get out of first round, teams like Portland and Memphis.

Forget about him being clumsy we could use him for our rebounding.

    Dalemburt
    McGee

I'm sure there are capable guys that can contribute more than Dorsey. I'm not sure why we didn't address this by the deadline but that's another story

If Houston can get him - great. I'm not a big McGee fan but he's at very least as good as Dorsey and occasionally even a plus on the court. Don't expect him to get solid rotation minutes - more like when Dwight is out or in foul trouble spot minutes.

I read that too it sounds like it was written last month though, I think our biggest threat is toronto. If it comes down to money...I'm not sure how they are cap wise but their taxes in toronto are ALOT more than say texas or florida...so who knows. I find it especially odd how quiet things are with mcgee, especially with us.

This link is a bit older, but I think its more reputable. Your right though, even if it's just to keep GSW grubby little hands off him. I would love nothing more than to see them bounced in the first round.... almost as much as us winning it all....almost.

With Josh's ankle, Dwight & TJ's situation, McGee would be ideal for us. The only problem is the money McGee wants & DM's willing to pay. He'd be a back up with GS & Houston and probably Toronto. If he has true aspirations to be a starter, the Raptors are his best choice. Toronto & GS are tax nightmares. The only problem there is I don't think he's capable of considering that point.

I love to see what he could do here though.

I seriously doubt he knows what taxes are....he's already getting like what 12 mil for this season money should not be a huge factor. Josh smith needs to dumb it down for him, why not get two paychecks instead of one... he's really missed his chance on any extra significant money this season. He has no choice but to sign with a playoff team now to make any extra money this year... he's NOT getting a player option this close to the FA market even boston wouldn't give him that. Does this guy even have an agent?.? I mean it's simple economics sign somewhere make some extra cash, besides your philly money, then sign again in the summer wherever. .. this guy really is very simple minded. Had he signed with us when he was waived he would have gotten some good PT IMO, maybe even started I mean we had dorsey starting some games... he could have really boosted his stock for the summer.

Agreed. And if not McGee, then another player with more length like Dalembert. Beat the bushes on Okafor or Sanders. Standing pat and praying Dwight will be 100%, is not the answer. Rockets are primed to go deep, could be one more player away.

Why is this thread still alive? There's 15 games left this season, and no signings are eligible for the playoffs. McGee is irrelevant, he'd barely be an upgrade over Dorsey and at this point there is absolutely no need to add him to our roster.

That's not true. You can sign with a new team for the playoffs as long as you weren't on a roster after the playoff roster deadline. I believe it is usually on March 1st. McGee was waived right before midnight on March 1st, so he is eligible to sign with any team for the playoffs.

Tracy McGrady signed with the Spurs in mid April a few years ago. He didn't appear in a single regular season game before playing in the playoffs.

Quality big man and McGee don't belong in the same sentence.

Hell I think people are crazy when I read McGee is some sure fire up grade to Dorsey and I know Dorsey sucks outside of rebounding.

I think some have forgotten how bad McGee really is. It's not the least bit surprising no one has touched him yet.

Barely a upgrade? Smh. Dorsey is 6'7 with short arms and can't finish under the rim. Mcgee is a HUGE upgrade given his size, athleticism & ability to protect the rim. If Dorsey became a FA today he'd have zero interest among NBA playoff teams. Mcgee has had interest from the Mavs, LAC, GS, Rockets and a few other playoff teams. He's definitely a upgrade and we should be after him more than anybody
