I think the Dwight Howard time table just got bumped up by at least one game.

be well Terrance. We need you !

He should not rush back. One extra win isn't really worth risking Dwight's health even a little bit at this point. Seeding doesn't matter nearly as much as just being healthy and ready come playoff time.

Besides, we don't even know whether an extra win will benefit the team in terms of match-up.

Sounds like there is a strong chance for a re-collapse within the year. But easily recoverable.

Uh... Indefinite = for an unlimited or unspecified period of time.

We've played quite a few games without Jones and Howard this year, we can manage. lt though it sure as hell isn't ideal, Jones has been doing some work over the last month.

I imagine we start Dorsey, and keep Smith on the bench, but Smith and D-mo will play most minutes. No need rush anybody back, being healthy in the playoffs are what matters.

I happen to have some expertise in this area. He's going to be fine as long as he didn't break a rib. His chances for this to happen again are extremely slim since it was associated with trauma. Typically takes a day or two in the hospital to fix it, a couple days more for recovery, and maybe a couple more to be safe that it won't happen again with contact. It's really not a serious injury, so we don't need to be worrying about him being out for the playoffs.

Just in response to some of the previous posts:

    1) you don't stitch this kind of injury, you insert a plastic tube into the thorax and let the air come out naturally, and it typically seals up on its own within a day or two. Very rare to have to do anything else in a healthy person who has never had this happen before and was clearly related to trauma.

    2) he can probably do full contact in a week or so barring something unusual, but they may make him wait a couple of weeks (in total) before taking flights (or he may have to drive around, which isn't a big deal if we end up playing Dallas). This is purely precautionary, as most of these injuries heal up pretty fast in healthy people.

The difference is that Jones didn't have a rib fracture. You can get a pneumothorax from blunt force trauma, which is the case here, rather than a shearing or puncture injury from a rib fracture. It usually means the injury is less severe and you don't need to worry about the rib fracture precluding contact.

Is there shearing or puncture in Wallace's case? The fracture was "non-displaced" for him.

Well what I meant by "stitched up" was they insert a small stapler with a tube, and staple the rupture up to help it heal if it doesn't heal spontaneously. A relative went through something similar, sealed off 3 holes, general recovery time was 3 weeks.

For sure this is the way to go.

No matter what happens, I think Josh Smith is the 'first big off the bench' in the playoffs. Keep him in that role in the short term.

Dwight should be back in 2-3 games.
Jones might only miss another 6 games.

Gives us more than a handful of games to get it right over the last weeks of the season.

Man, I just wish Jones the best of luck and a speedy recovery. He's been such a force for this team since coming back from the nerve damage which sidelined him for the 1st half of the season, it sucks that he has to miss even more time now.

Let's hope he's able to get back out there soon with no lingering effects

I know it wasn't intentional, but I really, really don't like Faried.

We should still have 7-8 games with a full squad going into the playoffs. Damn we're deep!!!
