If you consider firing him while he had cancer and then not even showing up to the press conference to be a 'falling out', then I guess so. I'm actually quite surprised that you even had to ask why Rudy T, "Rocket at Heart", is not involved with the Rockets anymore. I can't believe the seating chart at the game which had Rudy sitting next to Leslie - I wonder whose idea that was?
If it's any consolation, both Cassell and Smith gave their shutouts over video. Kenny's was especially great. Said "Harden, look at those legends...Clutch City still lives! Howard, look at those legends. Clutch city still lives! Ariza, Jones (Jason?) you know what it takes to win. Isaiah- oh wait we traded him but clutch city still lives!" (Rough summary)
was hanging out in the Lexus Lounge after the game tonight and got to see most of the players up close including Elie Mad Max and Hakeem even got to talk to NBA commissioner Silver for a while.
Is Rudy T sick or something? Hearing him talk to Bill and Calvin, his voice sounds terrible. Is it just me that noticed?
He's in his late 60's, used to be a heavy smoker and drinker, and has survived cancer. Not to mention he coached in the NBA for 13 years. I'd say it's just age AND mileage taking its toll.
I can't read all the comments on here but I gotta say seeing "O.T" was awesome. When I use to watch the Rockets back in the day as a kid, O.T. was a man amongst boys.
Played pool with Maxwell at Yucatan Liquor Stand. Met Otis Thorpe at Cypress Creek High School b/c his niece, Charvette Lewis, was one of my students. Waited on Elie and Horry at Victor's Restaurant in Sugar Land. Saw Cassell at The Roxy- didn't get to speak to him. Where has all the time gone?
This is a group of real champions. Maury and all his "analytics" would never have assembled a team like this. In Steve Patterson we trust! Long live Clutch City!
It's also unbelievable the shape Vernon Maxwell is in...the guy has always been a genetic freak. I don't think he even really worked out during his career (weight room extracurricular activities notwithstanding). I can't believe he's 50. As usual, you have no idea what you're talking about. Things on Planet Nook are always different than on Planet Earth. Please just stay quiet, read, and learn.
I know. Pete chilcut and charles Jones must have a lot of catching up to do. They had front row seats at a lot of great games......
Max always seemed like such a kid, laughing, cracking jokes and stuff, and just took on this whole thug persona which kind of made him unique cause he REALLY wanted to fight MJ, but at the same time that was his downfall. Not just in the NBA, but also in life. I sincerely hope he's changed his life around, is on good terms with his kids and will keep visiting Houston from time to time. These photos with Rudy and Drexler just show you how history can be re-written and it's all water under the bridge. Hopefully we will get a HQ photo of the whole group, but here's some good ones from Rockets.com: Speculation on the convo: [Before the photo] Rudy: Hey big fella, great job you're doing here! Kevin: Thank you, great celebration huh? [During] Rudy: *Laughing* Yeah, maybe you can bring home the trophy for a 3rd time Kevin: *red face* I hope so.. *sincere and giving the typical McHale laugh* [After - both talking to themselves] Rudy: He is never going to win it, clueless b*stard Kevin: That smug sum'b**** This was is even better!!! Max: We had something special Rudy, I thought we were friends.. Rudy: We still are Max, why you mad Max: *Giving him the stare you see in the photo* Olajuwon ignoring Leslie, talking to Clyde and Thorpe: You know this old fool behind me, he thinks he brought home the championships. Clyde: Come on, I thought I did Thorpe muttering to himself while smiling: Hah you wish..
I just received the follow up fax from Michael Jordan stating, "I have to admit it, I lost to the Rockets in 94-95."
