How can anybody have anything bad to say about Kendrick... He is no doubt the best lyricist to crossover to the mainstream in a good 15 years. The way he paints pictures with his lyrics is reminiscent of a young Nas
Lol at the comments on this page. Amazing album, loved how he switched it up on this album. Classic for sure.
It was utter garbage. I've been a Kendrick fan for a while, so I was hyped for this release. I TRIED to like it but I just couldn't. There's maybe 2 tracks that I could see myself listening to continuously but overall it was a huge flop.
I love some of the people replying to this acting like they're more cultured because like the album while others don't. Music and art in general is always going to be a subjective thing. If people don't like something you do it doesn't mean they "don't get it", it means they have differing taste. ****ing hipsters.
slow or something that doesn't get me hyped while listening to rap is what i was hoping to avoid from kendrick. i couldn't get into it. give me more MAAAAAAAD. gotta admit tho, back end of the album picks up
Already posted in this thread, but I just have to say, this album is pure genius. It's structure is incredible... Kendrick displays his mastery of lyricism and storytelling. It's so subtle and there's so many meanings, and it all ties in together with the final track... Kendrick truly killed it with TPaB. With each listen it gets significantly better.
http://pitchfork.com/reviews/albums/20390-to-pimp-a-butterfly/ Given a 9.3 from Pitchfork Great Album. Kendrick is the best in the game right now. Spoiler <iframe width="560" height="315" src="https://www.youtube.com/embed/qTmHuavOXNg" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe>
Agreed I've listened to it about 3 times now and it still sucks. I think people feel the need to give this album high praise because Kendrick Lamars name is attached to it (like people do with Kanye).
Love the album, definitely one you should listen to in its entirety and with your headphones or system. Very different from GKMC but I like the laid back and darker type. Know these concept albums are hit or miss for many people, I love this one.
Gonna jam it tonight on the way to the game. I'll give my subjective opinion on it before I start reading into some of the clutchfaners reviews.
Kendrick is one of the best lyricists out there. Very, very talented; major props. However, I just can't seem to enjoy his music. Same as J. Cole. Childish, Drake, and Kanye for me.
