What you're saying is not exactly true.
With DMo on the court, the Rockets shoot eFG% of 51%. With him off, eFG% is 51%
On/off court is almost a wash with Motie, surprisingly we rebound slightly better with him on as compared to off.

If you compare that to Jones, with Jones on court, the Rockets shoot eFG% 56.8% (50.5% with him off)
Comparing the 2, with Jones the Rockets don't turn the ball over as much, they score at a higher clip, with more assisted baskets, and defending far better. Defensively, with Jones on court, the Rockets are allowing just 43.8% eFG% (49.2% with him off)

Funnily enough though, with Jones on court the Rockets are a worse rebounding team. That might have something to do with most of his minutes this season being played in the absence of Dwight? (which makes his other numbers even more impressive).

I don't bother talking basketball with you because you simply don't know what you are watching when you tune into the games. You think the player that is a worse shooter "opens up the court"....you simply don't know enough about basketball to even know why your opinion is wrong so there's not rally a point in me continuing to point it out when you say something that is wrong so I'll just laugh at you every once in a while and say "have a good day"

But you have no proof to the contrary...

How does Donuts open up the court by sitting in the paint trying to post? Just because he can hit the 3 at a better clip, it doesn't mean he opens up the court.

And the statistical data (over almost 2 seasons) is the proof in the pudding.

eFG Donuts on court = 51%
eFG Jones on court = 56.8%

I am not quite sure why you are laughing at me? Why not laugh at yourself. Your hatred of a particular player leads you to analyze everything the wrong way.

Serious question: have you heard of the Dunning Kruger effect? Because you seem to be a prime example of their research ;)

Big timer tell me why Jones isn't in the starting lineup tonight? Mchale elected to go with Dorsey. So Mchale might go with DMO as the starter once Howard comes back.

Funny as it may seem, the team rebounds better with DMo on court than off, and worse with Jones on court than off. And obviously better with Dorsey on than off.

Either: coach doesn't want to get killed on the boards
OR: it's a confidence thing for DMo, Howard coming back soon, make DMo FEEL supported so that he finds his game again.

    I'll take either explanation!!

Rockets getting killed in the paint... at least T-Jones will attempt to block a shot.

D-mo a little too one dimensional in the fact that he will always stay with his man, no matter where he is on the court.

Couldn't it be something as simple as TJones was late for Monday practice, so by team rules he gets benched?

Or maybe McHale is letting them fight for starter just prior to Howard coming back -- giving them both starter mins at PF. Of course, that doesn't mean you should start Dorsey grrrrr

Could be all that you said or what DrN stated. To me you kill the chemistry of your team. But hey Dmo is rolling on offense so maybe he was trying to get him going. Who knows lol

The sequence tonight where Motiejunas nailed a 3 tonight, then contested a post shot which missed, had the rebound ripped away from him by the Orlando PG and immediately passed off to Gordon who drained the open trey is the Donatas Motiejunas Experience in a nutshell

I'm with you on "don't kill the chemistry" - but it's working so far tonight!

The sequence where Terrence Jones clanks a 3, then ganders down to the other end and commits a foul on the alley-oop over his head because he wasn't being observant, then he posts up and gets blocked then he scores on a putback....The Terrence Jones experience in a nutshell.

D-Mo three months overdue for this game, but I'll take it!

    Yo Clyde,

if McHale "goes by the matchups" then DMo is going to be starting 90% or more of the playoff games.

Nice game from the big fella, that's 2 good games in a row. He's never played anywhere close to this many minutes before and I think he hit the wall. Hopefully he's working through it.

I like D-Mo, I like Jones too. I wish great success to both of them. They are our X-factors IMO.

You aren't allowed to like both, it's against the law. One of them absolutely has to be a mediocre scrub

Just seems that the past month plus shows why playing out of position can be effective only for stretches. DMo is a power forward... not a center and has been worn down.

Haha, of course he has a monster game right after you say this.

You do make some good points and I agree to some extent.

They way things are going now Jones will likely start (unless he and McHale continue to have "personal issues") when Dwight gets back. He's given you more as a PF starter than DMo up to this point, and he's more versatile, spacing the floor better.

DMo is still great to have in the 2nd unit as a legit post threat with a PF in Smith who can handle the rock and attack from the perimeter.
