Not going to take anything from ST results... but there's nothing so far to suggest this offense won't be able to "feast" often. They'll also be prone to some slumps/shutouts due to their swing-and-miss tendencies. But, for the first time in awhile, there's a legit MLB player/hitter that can be pencilled into each spot in the lineup.
Tomorrow at 7 pm. I had to run errands after Castro made it 4-0 with his hr. I thought he missed it when he made contact because it looked like he got under it. I know there's a breeze out but it isn't that strong and it went out by a good distance. If Correa keeps it up, he's going to make life tough on Luhnow. He should start at AA but they shouldn't be afraid to call him up if he's tearing s*** up in Corpus. Sometimes players are just that special and he appears to be one of those. 4 games by ROOT sucks. Watching today made me even more excited for this season.
I suspect they'll do the same thing that they did with Singleton and tried to do with Springer, right, and sign Correa to a longer term contract? If that's the case, and he doesn't agree, he might be in the minors all season as well as the first month of 2016.
I think Luhnow will offer and Correa (rightly so) will decline. But if he's destroying AA and AAA this season, I can't imagine they'll delay him...though I wouldn't entirely be surprised if they do that.
Even if they delay him, he shouldn't be any older than 22 (that's two full years from now), and that's factoring the half a year he lost last year due to the injury. I also don't think they'll offer him a paltry extension... it will be something competitive that should entice him enough to sign. It can really be a winning deal for the player as well.
I see two major differences in the Correa situation from Springer/Singleton 1) Correa was the #1 overall pick and has already had a big payday. Certainly looks like he has much bigger pay days ahead of him, but he has less incentive to take a deal because no matter what happens, as long as he is smart, he has already earned enough money to take care of himself the rest of his life 2) When it was time to do this with Springer and Singleton, the team was horrible. Now i'm not saying we are world series contenders or anything, but there was NO CHANCE that holding down Springer and Singleton would keep the team from having a chance at contention. There is at least a bit of now and, hopefully, they will consider what is best for the big league team "right now" at least a bit when making these decisions So I think the situation is different on both sides than for Springer/Singleton. Not saying that it won't be a consideration because i'm sure it will, just think there is a big difference in the circumstances with Correa

Oberholtzer to get back on mound Lefty to test lat strain Friday in bullpen session PORT ST. LUCIE, Fla. -- Left-hander Brett Oberholtzer, the projected fourth starter in the Astros rotation, will throw a bullpen session on Friday. Oberholtzer likely sustained a mild strain of his left lat last week while making a pickoff attempt at second base. The injury forced him to be scratched from his appearance in a Minor League game last Sunday. "We'll assess after that what the next game plan is," manager A.J. Hinch said. "We're excited to get him back on the mound. He's been throwing. Nothing's delayed his throwing, just his throwing off the mound has been the adjustment that we've made. Once we get him off the hill tomorrow, we'll [have] a more definitive game plan." The 25-year-old southpaw has been able to follow his daily routine except throwing off a mound. In two Spring Training starts, Oberholtzer has given up three runs -- two earned -- on eight hits over five innings with four strikeouts and a walk for a 3.60 ERA. Hinch doesn't expect any limitations on the type of pitches or how many Oberholtzer will throw. "We'll see," Hinch said. "Time will have to tell a little bit on how much he can handle. He should be able to throw a regular bullpen."
Based on what I have seen thus far my "#1 lineup".. Altuve-4 Valbuena-5 Springer-9 (like him 3 better than 2. Fits his approach more) Carter-dh Castro-2 Gattis-7 Singleton-3 Lowrie-6 Marisnick-8 Grossman Rasmus (trade?) Conger Margo
They'd basically have to eat a chunk of Rasmus' salary to get any takers in a trade... and he's going to need to play everyday (and play well) to get something of value for him.
Right now it looks like Gattis could start on the DL. That opens up LF in my mind (Carter-DH, Singleton-1st). Id imagine Rasmus would get the nod an Robbie goes to Fresno?
