I think Harden is the better player, but I honestly think both would be worse off (Rockets probably way worse off, GS minor dip).

That GS team feeds off of Curry's randomness/free spirit play. Harden is too calculated for that cast.

Both teams are built for their stars.

Warriors would be legit contenders, Houston would be fighting for the 8th seed at best.

It's impossible to have Curry in conversation without including Klay.

Harden will be a better player in GS. In a month or so with US team , he had improved in all aspects , he learned in this month what he didT learn from McHale/Brook in 5 years compined.

On the other hand , Curry in Houston will fulfill the weakest team link which is the PG , and can hit the 3s better .though I believe Steve Kerr going to be the difference makers and not a player .

Steve Curry will go back to be the same player under Mark Jackson . Harden can go to the next top level.

If Harden could play PG for GS, why couldn't he for the Rockets?

    Real question.

Wait, so we would be using Curry on bigger defenders the way we do with Harden sometimes? Good Lord.

I think GS would be better with Harden than Houston would with Curry. I think surrounding Harden with shooters on the level of GS's would see Harden's assist totals sky rocket while Curry's would drop with the amount of bricks Ariza and Co. can throw up sometimes.

I think if Harden got forced to give up the ball, that GS has enough talent to get buckets with Iggy, Lee, Bogut, Barnes, Green and Klay out there. The Warriors are seriously stacked.

Klay and Harden would be a huge back court, too. Curry would have no SG to compliment him unless we're putting Brewer in there, but then Brewer's energy off the bench is gone.

Plus, being the media darlings that they are. Harden on the Warriors would get even more FT's

Like a previous poster said, they're both on the right team for their respective skill set.

Both would worsen. Harden and Curry fit their teams perfectly. Any change in that would result in worse records.

A good point. Curry's game has more 'flow' to it. Harden will step back, measure, then attack.

Both could change their game up though?

Shooter yes, distributor no. It wasn't an accident that Coach K had Harden as the playmaker. Harden's ability to create, especially 3's would be out of this world good surrounded by that Golden state cast.

Didn't Golden State have the chance to get Harden for Klay Thompson?

I honestly don't see a lot of overlap between Harden and Klay. Klay isn't a ball handler. He is much more of a Reggie Miller player and is big enough to move to the 3.

GSW turned down Klay for Harden too.

That would have worked out so well for both teams. OKC could have played a Westbrook/Durant/Klay lineup...think about that.

On the other hand GSW would have had the most insane backcourt.

Agreed. Lets remember that this offense IS James Harden. Also remember who was the leader of that USA team while Curry and Klay just threw up as many shots as they could some nights.

Harden became Coach K's go to player in so many situations and even defensively sometimes and I think he learned then that he could really lead a team.

Second this. Have to be objective to answer, but Brewer starts at 2 and we finally have legit PG.

Warriors left without starting PG and two all-star shooting-guards, they get worse for sure.

Aniway, I love that we have Harden, he is 2 years younger and team is legit contender. :)

People have a really bizarre and arbitrary outlook of what a shooting guard and point guard are.

What does a point guard do in your opinion?
What does a shooting guard do in your opinion?
Which is James Harden closer too?

It's like this odd sentiment that Harden should play off the ball more because he's a shooting guard, as if that somehow makes sense.

Jalen describes it well, there are really only 2 positions, perimeter and interior, the positional assignment is to simplify it for the viewing public.

The key is to get a guy like Thompson for Harden to play next to. Stop being jealous of the Splash Bros guys... they don't have to dribble and drive as much to get their points because they are dead eye shooters.

I think GS would not be much better. But I do think the Rockets would be much worse.

That was not an option. So I voted Rockets worse GS better.

I don't disagree with what you say. But if Harden is our PG, why are we playing Beverley with him?

Answer: Harden can't defend NBA PGs. So if Harden went to GS, they would need a defensive PG. And where would Thompson fit?

Harden and Curry are very different players. You can't just swap two different types of players and expect everything else on the teams would be the same.

Livingston is a capable starting point guard. He could be a pseudo-starter; play his usual 25 minutes but start instead. The rest of the "point guard" will be used by Harden. Have Harden at the SG and Klay at SF, and fill in from there. The Warrior are that deep!

    Rotation would be:
    Livingston (25) / Harden (18) / Barbosa (5)
    Harden (18) / Thompson (20) / Iggy (10)
    Thompson (13) / Barnes (23) / Iggy (12)
    Green (30) / Lee (15) / Speights (3)
    Bogut (32) / Speights (10) / Lee (6)

Bottom line: I don't think Curry could carry a team like Harden has carried the Rockets this season. Very few players could.

What if prime Michael Jordan and James Harden switched the teams, how much worse would that make the Rockets?
