The only solid move he made was putting Brewer on Redick for the 2nd half, and I'm not even sure that was him. Not his best effort today, that's for sure.
I'm glad we won but in critical moments you have to foul DeAndre Jordan and not give Chris Paul etc.. a chance to win or tie. I agree with the commentators the hack a player strategy isn't entertaining ball but it is legal and is part of the game. As a coach and a ref, not basketball, I tell my players to use the rules to help you win. McHale should be doing the same.
Even though we won i'm still pissed at that 2 minute stretch where we did not foul Jordan. Was a great chance to extend the lead and go into the last 2 minutes with that lead. That was just inexcusable to ignore, you had the whole commentating team featuring two coaches continually saying "If I were the coach, i'd foul..."
Keep in mind that on the miked up segments they try to keep out anything specific such as what play they are calling. Generally they are just showing stuff that is generic such as telling players to play harder or share the ball more.
Dude is literally a statue during the game. He is brain dead or brain freezes throughout the game He is always few minutes late to make adjustments. It's almost like Morey has to message him saying "hey McFail take a timeout" Still unbelievable that he didn't hack DJ. It's like McFail thinks you only hack when you are 10 down. A liability of a coach. Absolutely the worst playoff coach and amongst the 3 worst coaches in the league
I wonder if they just....i don't know. It's hard to understand why you would not foul there. I can't even imagine it. If Jordan knocks down his FTs, so what? The thing is though the Clips were hot and hitting shots and fired up. Should have stopped that right away. Once we get the lead in that 2 minute mark then all you need at that point is 1-2 stops and 1-2 scores and then the other team will have to foul and hope that we choke at the line to even have a chance at winning.
Our execution late in games is just terrible, and it's been that way for years. Harden has bailed us out a bunch but he has to go Jordan mode for us to win close games it seems. Today we got away with poor execution because Griffin went full r****d there at the end.
We got lucky, Ariza with the sacrifice at the end was huge. I kinda stopped attacking Mchale but truly there is no other game more evident that we win inspite of Mchale than this.
Yea, he was intended to be a coach like that too, we were tanking when we got him. Then we handed him a 3 year extension when we won a few games without Dwight, without seeing him win a first round series. Smh.
I know! Even coaches with championships are kinda sucky! McHitler is still gonna suck even if we win it all......... Why can't I be the coach?????
