I don't know.....can you consider a guy who can create his own shot and draw double teams a role player?? You can build around that. DMo is more than a role player long-term IMO.
D-Mo is more than a role player only in the perfect system. He needs to play with a defensive minded center who won't demand the post-touches, clearing space for DMo to do his thing. So - either Deandre or a Dwight that can play more like Deandre.
Gobert against SAS Duncan and Splitter 18 rebounds Gobert against POR Lopez and Aldridge 15 rebounds Gobert against MEM Gasol and Koufos 24 rebounds Gobert against HOU Motiejunas and TJones 22 rebounds Gobert against DET Drummond and Monroe 19 rebounds No surprise he had 10 offensive rebounds against us, he's a 7'1'' freak with 7'9'' wingspan. He can outrebound any big in the league if he's feeling it. Still inconsistent young player.
We need some real size at backup C: <iframe width="560" height="315" src="https://www.youtube.com/embed/VmEomXly9rg" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe>
Yeah, it's no problem that Gobert has 12 offensive rebounds, since his previous career high was 8. Basically what you and everyone else is saying is that it's okay to lose because other players are good.
Donatus is feeling the long season. He has never played these types of minutes. When Dwight comes back, maybe Dmo can sit out a few games to get ready for the playoffs. rest should do him good.
It's not "okay", but it's understandable given that we were going up against a beast of a center and the only healthy center on our roster in that game was Joey F'n Dorsey. When you play a PF at center against the best centers, it doesn't work out well. Hell even some bad centers with legit size can look good against PF's. Does anyone remember thinking Roy Hibbert was the next great center when he beat up on Chris Bosh in that playoff series? Almost 100% of his hype was based on that. Shockingly, he couldn't keep it up against actual centers.
Theoretically - yes. But it could go both ways - make him better in game shape, or something can crawl into his brain and mess it up. Like right now he is messed up on three throws. Other thing - he can play the way he is playing and mold himself into shape, that is needed for NBA starter. Make easy bunnies, still shoot good threes, fix his head for the free throws and physically perform with no setbacks.
