Wallace the type of expensive headcase that could get a GM fired for trading for him, but won't get a GM fired for passing on him
Solid take in that the last GM to sign him (Ireland) was fired less than a year later while the GM that let him go (Colbert) is still employed with the same team.
I don't think there's necessarily anything preventing them from signing him. But they asked him to restructure his contract last year and he did. If they wanted to keep him, they could've asked him to take a paycut again. Something similar to what he'd get on the open market. But they didn't.
this Wilfork thing has an Ed Reed feel to it i.e. just won a title, looking for one last payday, injured part of last year
i'm getting that same vibe too...if he's off to indy, good riddance...but i'd want him here next to JJ only at the right price the agent going publicly with this rubs me the wrong way
Yeah if he does sign here, i'm setting my expectations very low. But man if he's got anything left......
Contrary to reports, he is not being shopped. Spoiler

Joby Branion, Patterson's agent, on the trade talk report: "Categorically false." Hung out with E. Sanders from Broncos last night. My friend is close to him. Told him he needs to come here. Said he would love to be a Texan one day. And he's a huge rockets fan. Talked harden MVP etc. Cool story bro. No pics.
Not only that, but a 34 year old safety < 33 year NT. Safeties are lucky to make it into their mid 30s, but DLs routinely play into their late 30s. Reed had a clearly below average season before we picked him up, but Wilfork was above average despite coming off of a significant injury.
