Maybe. I'm really into the Rockets so I'm pretty excited to have become friends with him. My last post was in response to knowing him so I'm not sure how I might have replied otherwise. I don't disagree I mention knowing him a lot though. If you have any friends that like the Rockets maybe they could explain to you how I might be excited to know him. Believe it or not he returns the sentiment, mentioning his friendship with me, when he talks to friends that share his love of theatre.

It's just like Morey's decision not to keep Parsons. He and his staff did the projections and the outputs were it was just not realistic that the Rockets as constructed (and capped out) would be able to win a championship.

I think Morey did the same type of projection with us adding Dragic and determined we still wouldn't be good enough, plus with the certainty that Dragic wouldn't return. Morey wants to build a dynasty, not win just one. Hard to build a dynasty when you trade multiple assets for a rental.

Dragic would've been equivalent of when the Astros traded for renting Randy Johnson. It was a high risk trade and it didn't work out, and as a result plenty of talent traded from Houston blossomed for other teams.

OK, working with you on this. TA + DMo = @$10.5 ('15-'16 salaries; which get used if trade is during Draft?). 'Throw in Papa Nick and Voila! Does that work for LBJ & Co? If DM the GM 'adds' Pels + Knicks pix is that going to work?

How would this affect Smith? Might he lose a willingness to reup?

Love was brilliant in Minny. Not so much in Cleavesburg. What would his fit be with The Beard and DHo?

If Love is forcing himself out then why not sign where he (allegedly) most wants to be, LAL? Kobe, two top picks (oops, Randle is a redundancy), two quality rle players and Lakes are back in the mix for a p/o spot.

OK, you're right. It could work. But it certainly seems a reach and a half, to me at least.

Here is a question for Francis. If you had a day to pick someones brain, who would that person be?Mine would be...

    Daryl Morey (hands down)

How could you not want to talk to someone who lives and breathes Rocket basketball, and is smart as a whip? Count me in on that fascinating conversation.

You don't have to be an insider to know the answer to this question....

They obviously wanted to upgrade, just didn't work out.

I think everyone in the fanbase and FO was hugely banking on Dragic. Did ANYONE see him pulling the 'No HOUSTON!' thing?

    Still burns.

Most likely, the trade would involve a 3rd team. Ariza, DMo to Cleveland, picks/etc to 3rd team, another key player to Cleveland. Perhaps something like:

Cleveland In: Ariza, DMo, Avery Bradley
    Houston In: Love, Evan Turner
Boston In: NOP 1st, NYK 2nd, Kpap, Prigioni

    Kyrie / JR Smith
    Bradley / Shumpert
    Ariza / Lebron
    Lebron / Thompson
    Mozgov / DMo

I only answered the first part in my post above.

The impact on Smith? None. He will still come off the bench. He may even be able to play some 3 (gasp) since Love can stretch the floor. Resigning Smith has more to do with whether we can pay him than his role.

Love is a great fit with Harden and Dwight IF Dwight will commit to being a PnR monster and not a post scorer. It is 100% about Dwight. Our system fits what Love does well like a glove.

I've never believed the LAL stuff, and Love has consistently down played it. I could be wrong of course, but he doesn't strike me as a "bright lights" type of guy.

I love "We Will Destroy You..." as a tagline. I need to come out to visit the theatre.

Also, I think it's cool as hell that Morey, as a transplant, is supporting local, non-mainstream arts like he is.

And Love isn't a great fit for the Cavs. Keep dreaming. Our system is basically ISO like the Cavs.

So a move made for non-basketball reasons? Weakening the team?

Watch that bite us during this late stretch. We're just spinning our wheels AGAIN.

It's not the 80s anymore. McHale should not impose his old-style values on young guys. The only thing he should teach them is to be professionalwhenit comes to the game.

Trading Ariza? Good lord, what happens to our perimeter defense again?

The two systems are somewhat similar. The major difference is pace. The Rockets are one of the top teams in the league in pace.....Cleveland is in the bottom half. In Minnesota, Love was great with the outlet pass....we would bring that back.

The major difference is personnel. 3 of Clevelands starters are high ISO players.....LeBron, JR Smith, and Kyrie. That means that Love is left to stand in the corner waiting for kick outs.

Harden is really the only high ISO player on the Rockets.

Yeah, you can keep dreaming. Love does plenty of outlet passes.

You don't think he'll be sitting in the corner waiting for kick outs here? Please, that is why he's the perfect fit here too. TOO STRETCH THE FLOOR. You seen his on/off numbers on the Cavs? If you did, you'd think he's an MVP.

You're limiting him. Sure he can stretch the floor, but that is not his entire game. He is an efficient scorer in the paint, and just a year ago was one of the top free throw shooters (attempts) in the league.

He needs and wants the ball. Houston can give him that.

Could be wrong, but I always got the sense that Pablo not shooting those shots was more him trying to not settle for a good shot. He wanted to try to get the best shot possible which seems understandable.

Did we not overpay for a wing defenseman at the trade deadline or is he just a rental?

What is this thread NOT about?

For example, basketballholic posted his recipe for lemon pound cake on page 1551. It was surprisingly good.

    (Pause)

Okay, no recipe was posted. But this thread just kinda diverges at will. When cyberx posts anew, it'll re-align. And then get lost again. It sucks in all light, all gravity, this thread.
