How did this turn into a general NFL news thread? Shouldn't this be reserved for Texans news? I personally don't care about a Wallace to Minny trade. Wilfork to Houston, I do care about.
None of the money is guaranteed, so it's a no-risk deal. All they lose is a 5th round pick if it doesn't work out. They need an legit WR to pair with their new star QB. And they have plenty of cap space, especially if they end up letting Peterson go.
That's true but they are still paying him almost 10 mil this year and it would be even more next year if they keep him. He's nowhere near worth that much. Maybe they think that no WR would want to come to Minnesota so they have to do it this way and overpay. LOL with the "new star QB" line though, that's just adorable.
It's relevant in that the Texans are looking for WR depth....one less potential WR out there is every bit as relevant as speculation about an old, fat, former Patriot.
Decent move for Minnesota. They had no competent receivers last year and no run game. Next year if they keep AP they'll have one probowl caliber receiver and a probowl running back.
Eh... Not convinced there are more than two wide receivers worth a first round pick and both will gone. Unless Rick smith is going to trade up for the first time I don't see it happening
Instead of looking at it that way you should look at the teams ahead of us and try to predict who would be in the market for a WR. The Dolphins were thought to be, but probably aren't anymore, the Vikings were thought to be, but probably aren't anymore. I could see the Browns and Bears looking WR, but the Browns are a completely inept franchise, so it could be QB or long snapper for all we know.
I don't think there was anyone else lining up to give up draft picks for the privilege of paying him 10 mil a year.
Jaelen Strong will be there when we pick and I think he will be an All-Pro type wide out. <iframe width="560" height="315" src="https://www.youtube.com/embed/PsNC4B-OaFY" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe>
Can he sign back with new england after they cut him? Maybe I'm just unaware of nfl contract specifics.
