My a/c broke so looking to get it fixed.. Anyone know of a good mechanic to recommend me to in the southeast area?
Dont ever go to a backyard mechanic or commercial place with a bunch of cars abandoned. A good shop will give you a document esyimate with exact repairs and labor cost
DT Auto Repair is my mechanic. Been going there since 2004. It's a two man crew there and they always have plenty of business, but usually if I take it and ask him I need it by the end of the day, he tries his best to have it ready for me (and usually does get it to me). The owner/mechanic's name is Danny. His number is 713-923-6288. His shop is located at the corner of Evergreen/Hemlock, just inside the 610 loop near 45. Let him know Isaac, the guy with purple Honda recommended you to him. Prices are fair, not the cheapest but definitely not dealership type expensive either.
A friend recommended one of these places to me. AC related too. I saved about $600. Actually a "legit shop" was going to charge about $200-$300 to add free on and keep an eye out for leaks. Then I imagined it would be a slippery slope of fees while the try to figure out the problem. The shop I was recommended to checked it for free. So no. Those shops don't always necessarily know the exact problem. They use similar troubleshooting techniques as raggedy shops. Except they hide it behind a fancy counter. But the shop was recommended by someone I reallytrust. So I do agree with you to some extent.
Flea market off telephone. That's where I went last time they have a bunch of stands where they fix A/C's there.
I used to always go to Lang's Master Car Care in Third Ward before I moved. I always found them to be honest, which is important in a mechanic.
The first part may be good advice, but the second part isn't. Having the ability to set up an invoice program doesn't mean a mechanic is competent or honest.
South east is one of the worst places in Houston. I highly doubt they have any quality there....of anything.
