Big big big asterisk. I am encouraged that he is watching film after talking with Mchale. But once on the floor with the competitive juices flowing will be defer? Will he be a cog? Even dream had to make changes aftee 91-92. Maybe Olajuwon should have heart to heart and tell him about that flight from Japan to Houston when Olajuwon changed from a black hole to a passer on the double team and admit he had to involve his team mates in order to grow.
Dwight needs to flash to the front of the rim on every possession and make people foul him. That is the best way he can be used.
That's what I gather cyberx meant. The team has shown it can win without Dwight. They can't contend without him, but Morey would probably not hesitate to find a replacement center who can rebound and block shots and reallocate that 22 mil of capspace elsewhere. Dwight needs to stop worrying about being the man on offense and just concentrate on defense.
Maybe. But Dwight is not exactly beloved by a lot of people in the NBA, so I doubt Morey would get too much heat from agents and the players they represent should he feel the need to trade him(or simply not resign him past 2016 or 2017) because he refuses to accept a different role on the team.
They feel he won't have his athleticism...sounds steep to me. I don't know how much of that is paraphrasing, but cyberx usually writes what was meant. Yes, his athleticism is going to decline with age, but consider were they were with that before he bumped knees, to now not having it. That's quite a change over less than a year, where he has had no structural damage to his knee. On top of that, he's been working on correcting his imbalances all this time, so he should be better athletically now, from where he was last year. So he may have lost some with age, but should have gained some anyway. It doesn't add up.
It's politics. what do you expect him to say in interviews conducted by the team: "I am not going to be able to do the things I used to do." Not a very good PR strategy in my opinion. In short, yes they are lying.
What you're saying is the opposite of good PR strategy. If he has lost a lot of athleticism, they won't be able to hide it in 2 weeks, when he returns. Good PR isn't setting yourself up to be proven a liar. All he has to say is things are going as scheduled, short answers, etc. There is a middle ground there, between the truth and lying, that he completely skipped over.
When Morey signed Dwight, I think he believed Dwight would come around to his strengths on offense. It's obvious to me that this was not the case until now. I hope Dwight commits to being a "super TJones" on offense. Set the pick, crash to the paint, and hit the offensive boards. If he does this, then I'd be much more comfortable starting DMo next to him.
Dwight will get his usual touches and will be utilize heavenly in the playoffs. But if you people want to believe rumors, go right ahead.
How can Howard be a good defender with diminished athleticism? He'll be better than who we have now, for sure. I really hope JSmith gets his 2nd wind. We're gonna need him to play big or else we're gonna be toast in the playoffs.
Cyber, do they plan on using him more? I loved him in the beginning of the season and then he kind of fell out of favor at one point and when he finally got back in he was injured. ( I actually didn't know he was still not cleared, I figured it was a DNP-CD)
