No. I'd either let Blue get some burn and continue to develop and/or draft a RB2 in the 4th/5th round. Would prefer we spend free agency money on a NT, ILB, or OG unless they feel confident in X's progress.
And, to be fair, they were very very good on offense last year. Gore is a definite upgrade but they're both at an age where a sharp decline seemingly overnight wouldn't be terribly surprising. I'm a little perplexed by the Colts' thinking... I know Andrew Luck's deal hovers over the franchise, and thus, these short-term deals make a bit of sense. But, man - it's possible, in two years, you're going to be paying Luck a fortune and your starting RB and WR2 will be washed up. Meanwhile, the offensive line hasn't been upgraded, the defense still can't stop the run, and your GM is proving to be a poor personnel guy.
The Colts have had poor personnel men for a long time now who have been made to look better by Peyton Manning and now Andrew Luck. If Andrew Luck were to go down, the Colts wouldn't be any more than a 4-5 win team. This board has its own very strong feelings regarding the QB position and guys like Bridgewater (maybe he spurned them at an autograph session or something) but this team will go nowhere without one. I want Mallet to be that guy and if he's not, then the legit contention window get punted further down the road.
That's actually kind of scary. Yes he's hurt a lot, but behind that OL he could impress. I'd laugh if it was Trent Richardson.
How is that funny? A healthy McFadden because of that stout line? He's gonna have a better year than Murray
Last year was the first year he played all 16 games in a season. He's topped 800 yards rushing once (2010) in his career. He's averaged 3.3 YPC in the past three years. Not scary.
I would absolutely LOVE Reggie Bush on this team for cheap. In a limited role I think he would be very valuable for BOB. I don't think he's going to be cheap though. Guys with that kind of "name" value always get paid more than they are worth, even at the end.
good points. but he won't be running behind Oaklands ****ty offensive line anymore. he'll be running behind the best o line in the nfl. i expect those numbers will go up if he stays healthy.
2014: Latavius Murray ran for 5.2 YPC (McFadden 3.4) 2013: Rashad Jennings went for 4.5 YPC (McFadden 3.3) 2012: FB Reese went for 4.6 YPC, Mike Goodson 6.3 (McFadden 3.3) and in 2009, when Run DMC ran for 3.4 YPC, Justin Fargas even went for 3.8, and Michael Bush
You kind of said it yourself. They have all this cap room that is going to be used on Luck in a few years. In the meantime, they're going to spend that money on FAs at the end of their careers in an effort to "win now". It may not be the best or most efficient strategy, but that's what they're doing.
Why not use that cap space to front-load Luck's extenion now and build young pieces that can grow with him? I just don't see the long-term thinking behind having Luck cripple your cap and making it that much harder to replace all your "win now" veterans 2-3 years from now...
You're right! What he said wasn't remotely funny compared to your comment. McFadden sucks, Jerry signed him cause he had a hard on for him in college.
They are probably going to do the Luck contract this offseason. If they do what the Texans did with Watt, this is the offseason they will extend him.
at least the colts didn't put all that money on defense. love andre but I hope swag concusses him. nothing serious, just out for 1 game. he can go back to getting his 1,400 yards after said game.
