Saints blowing it up? <blockquote class="twitter-tweet" lang="en"><p>NFL source on New Orleans: "The <a href="https://twitter.com/hashtag/Saints?src=hash">#Saints</a> are literally shopping every single player on their roster. Yes please. Im actually excited at the opportunity for Stills...dude is turning 23 next month. He'll be great for the slot and can play the outside too. Not sure why the Saints would trade him...he is making just over 600k this upcoming year and around 700k in 2016. That doesnt make much sense to me.
Haha, I know wrong thread, but the Eagles are trying to trade Evan Mathis. Chip Kelley is Darrell Muree's evil twin!
It is surprising to me too, but maybe they want to maximize value? Weird, it doesn't usually happen in the NFL. Maybe the coach hates him or he slept with someone's daughter? Who knows, just hope the Texans are all over it. No problem with a 3rd rounder for him.
This is what happens when you disregard the cap year by year. They are in literal cap hell and won't be able to get out of it this year or next year. Awful job by Loomis.
<blockquote class="twitter-tweet" lang="en"><p>The <a href="https://twitter.com/hashtag/Eagles?src=hash">#Eagles</a> are working to trade G Evan Mathis, source said. More craziness.</p>— Ian Rapoport (@RapSheet) <a href="https://twitter.com/RapSheet/status/576082353308590080">March 12, 2015</a></blockquote> <script async src="//platform.twitter.com/widgets.js" charset="utf-8"></script>
Stills has the same amount of TDs as AJ over the past two years... and last year put up the same yardage on 20 less receptions (and 60 less targets)
<blockquote class="twitter-tweet" lang="en"><p>Hearing the Fins, Bills, Rams, Vikings and possibly even Saints sniffing around on Evan Mathis, who Eagles are willing to move...</p>— Jason La Canfora (@JasonLaCanfora) <a href="https://twitter.com/JasonLaCanfora/status/576086592177192960">March 12, 2015</a></blockquote> <script async src="//platform.twitter.com/widgets.js" charset="utf-8"></script>
Two things... 1) Why do you post so many things that have nothing to do with the Texans in here? 2) Why do people even bother following Jason LaCanfora on twitter? Guy is a hack.
Well people were asking if we could get Evan Mathis and I just wanted to let people know what teams are going after him. Plus it adds to the discussion a little just like Kenny Stills being shopped around on
Here's something to think about... If the Texans elect to take a WR in the 2nd round of this draft, would we prefer that player or someone that has shown to be NFL quality in Stills? Stills salary for the next couple years would be less than a WR we would take in the 2nd round. So, if it comes down to it...2nd rounder or no deal, what do we do?
Keep them coming zeeshan. It is good to see all of the NFL happenings all in one thread especially because some of it can be Texans related in a round about way. Stills being available is an interesting discussion to see of the Texans should make a move for him. I don't even bother looking at the NFL offseason thread thanks to zeeshan. Also there is like a post every 5 minutes here so it is not like it clouds up this thread.
My only hesitation on a 2nd is that I'd rather have my 1st and 2nd round picks free for other holes where we need starters. Plus those are the rounds where Rick Smith can actually find guys sometimes. 1st, sometimes 2nd, and then late rounds.
So Saints shopping almost everyone: <blockquote class="twitter-tweet" lang="en"><p>Source w/ knowledge of situation: <a href="https://twitter.com/hashtag/Saints?src=hash">#Saints</a> appear to be shopping everyone but Drew Brees and Brandin Cooks. Complete retool.</p>— Jeremy Fowler (@JFowlerESPN) <a href="https://twitter.com/JFowlerESPN/status/576090505567694848">March 12, 2015</a></blockquote> <script async src="//platform.twitter.com/widgets.js" charset="utf-8"></script>
Do you think there is any one we could get in the 3rd that would be better than Stills? He's basically the same age as some of these prospects, yet he has 2 years of experience, is faster than most of them, and has shown that he has what it takes to be a solid #2 receiver. I think a 3rd for him is a given if the opportunity is actually there.
Here's my dream scenario: Texans sign Rahim Moore, Vince Wilfork and bring back Kendrick Lewis. They trade for Kenny Stills. Team hits a solid homerun in the draft with guys who can become starters or at least rotational quality players at CB, OLB, ILB. This next offseason, Saints cut Drew Brees, he signs with Texans for a Manning like end of career run. Texans win the Superbowl.
