The game last night really turned around when Bev couldn't make a shot to save his life. Once the Blazers saw that, we were playing 4 on 5 on offense. At the same time, the Blazers started to make their open shots and that really sucked the life out of the rockets. I was surprised that they were able to keep it close but when you can't hit a wide open shot and the other team starts making shots along with being outmatched on the boards primarily due to size, it starts wearing on you.
if beverley shoots 1 for 8 in a playoff game, it will likely be a loss unless harden does his usual monster game and bails out his backcourt mate. you can play all the defense you want but in the end if you don't hit at least a decent number of shots (wide open at that) or hit a shot at a critical moment it won't matter. you're severely overlooking the importance of this.
Pure truth. I agree 150%. Been saying this. Our backup center position is clearly our biggest weakness. I've been saying this all year. DMo's a fan favorite so it's natural to divert to Bev's offense as a scapegoat. But I watched about 5 rebounds "slip" through DMo's hands last night smh. Robin Lopez looked like the white Patrick Ewing. Unfortunately, this is the norm for anybody Dmo is guarding. Yet, we're talkin about Beverley's offense
I just cannot stand the missed wide open threes. I know you aren't going to make every shot but it seems as if Harden is able to get Bev and Ariza anywhere between 5-10 wide open threes each per game and they just brick one after another. You would think that at least some game they would hit more than they would miss them, but that never happens.
Why not give Johnson some consistent minutes and see what this kid cab do? He plays with energy and is super ahletic. And I'm fairly certain he can shoot better than Bev. Moreover, he has the athleticism to get to the rim, which is something Bev lacks. Again, at this point why not see what he can do? Better to experiment now than wait until the playoffs.
backup center being a problem yes. another big problem. having a backup pg be your starting pg, who is also struggling to hit open 3's. One of the two jobs he has. he probably has the easiest job out of all the starting pg's in the NBA actually as far as workload. is this a PB thread? i think it is. there's plenty of Dmo threads you can find with complaints there.
There lies the problem my friend. You don't appreciate defense or the intangibles that win ball games. Everything is about scoring and 3pt%. If Bev effectively slows down Lillard, CP3 or Westbook it shouldn't matter because he's not hitting his 3's. Therefore, he's garbage. All he's asked to do is consistently contain his position, in a conference full of elite pg's. Anybody could do this
So u are Beverley only fan I guess, Beverley and DMo both played bad, but at least he got 16pts, beverley 2-12, 5pts for 34 mins, that's just bad okie? Just admit it ur Boi sucks, he couldn't make wide open 3s. Again ur Boi sucks
Beverley doesn't suck, he's just limited in what he can do offensively and tries to do too much despite not being capable of much.
the problem is you believe Bev shuts down these players and it excuses him from the numerous other aspects there are in a game. but for him in particular his only other job. you make it a one on one matchup when it is far from that. even going 3-8 behind the arc last night would have had an impact in the game. it was just awful shooting displayed. it's pretty clear you fail to see the big picture so this thread will keep being revisited if he continues to shoot this badly.
On one possession alone last night Beverly misses a WIDE OPEN TJones running to the basket, making eye contact and Bev justs gallops to a spot. Made TJ scream WTF If I remeber, then the ball moves around and it gets back to Bev wide open shot .. CLAAAANG! I get him running the offense and staying within his role, but his playmaking ability is horrible, worst passing PG in the NBA (starter) Its cool that he can have a game here or there where he'll make some shots, but he isnt even a consistent shooter when getting routine wide open looks. To top it all off Im not all that impressed with his defense this year. Contract year huh?
Johnson can't shoot worth a crap either. The time to get a good shooter or playmaker to help Harden is way past. To solve the starting lineup deficiencies you have to either be one of the above. If all you can do is defend, then we are going to have huge problems come the playoffs, when defenses will have a bullseye on Harden.
Am I Bev only fan? No. I love Bev, just like I love Ariza, Jones & Brew. I think they collectively all play hard every nite, and I love guys like that. However, he's really been struggling offensively I admit. But his primary role here is DEFENSE. As in forcing the elite WC pg's into poor shooting games. That's fact. So when he has a poor offensive game, its means he "sucks" now? What kind of idiot basketball logic are you using? lol. For the record, I don't think DMo sucks either. I just think his inability to guard anybody, or keep his man off the boards hurts us more than Beverley's woes offensively. Robin Lopez is not that damn good
DMO is going to the bench when DH is back. Bev is our starting PG come playoff time. That is just scary.
It's not a fact. Beverley has consistently performed bad on defense for a large chunk of the season. He's done better recently. You still have no point just like you haven't for most of the season. Beverley is a liability when his 3 point shot isn't falling because aside from defense (which is highly variable against elite competition) he brings litte else to the table.
If I believe? Um ok bro Damian Lillard 14pts (5-16) Ty Lawson 13pts (5-14) Deron Williams 15pts (5-16 Chris Paul 22pts (8-18) If not shutdown he definitely contains them. Not every night, but for the most part PG's have poor shooting games against us. That's a fact not a belief Well, the shooting percentages drastically change my friend. There is a better chance Bev gets his shot back then DMo ever becoming a defender or learning how to effectively rebound the ball. When Bev starts hitting his shots I'm sure you'll disappear like all the other Bev critics who only follow boxscores. Defense & rebounding wins championships. I don't recall this much hatred for Ariza when he was beyond terrible offensively. But I guess
