merciless was one of b.o.b's favorite players along with newton, mayock's too. he is only 24 improved on run defense and applied pressure that resulted in bad throws and fumbles. When you have a guy that eats 20 sacks, in the history of the league, you will that not many in the front seven will have more than 7 sacks a season. If sacks numbers impress people, not me. I like the hurries and qb hits, merciless was racking them up. I like reed on a rookie contract. any team that has issues stopping the run will get the best out of him. hope we get fattyfork! huge addition.
I'm trying to figure out if you have ever made a post, even one I agree with, without being either snarky or obnoxious.
all money being equal, you have to think playing for Romeo and alongside Watt would appeal to Wilfork not to mention our BBQ
Brooks Reed is gone so you really have only one starting OLB being Mercilius going into the season. Clowney should only be expected to spot play this year, possibly just on passing downs if that.
Yeah it's disappointing. We sucked at the wrong time. Colts go a decade as the dominant team, 1 of the greatest players ever breaks his neck and the are horrible in the year Andrew Luck comes out. We hop around mediocrity and playoff contention for a decade and fall apart to absolute sucktitude in the year of...Clowney.
I think it's on the pessimistic side. I doubt he'll be ready to go when the season starts, but given the recent example of Travis Kelce, if things go well Clowney could be ready to go full out a month or so into the season. Basically there isn't enough information to say one way or the other at this point.

If the goal season is the playoffs, then Clowney shouldn't be factored in and anything you get from him is just an added bonus. Outside of QB play, a lack of depth hurt this team last year so I am hoping they go can add more talent across the front 7.
I would think the goal would be to have him ready to go by week 4 or 5 though officially they'll say week 1....but I think that's too soon. Then again, I don't know the specifics about his surgery any more than those predicting him to never play in the NFL again so it's really all guess work. I would think that the damaged area would have to be in a "good" area and that it would have to be pretty small for the proposed timeline to be anywhere near reasonable so either the team is completely full of **** or he has a good shot at being productive this season.

With 6 mil to play with, I think they offer about 1 mil a year to Moore and 5 to Wilfork and see what happens. I'm still not too thrilled about the Moore deal because he'll never live down this but he's still young and he's coming off of a pretty good season so I'll give him the benefit of the doubt if we sign him.
