Was Afflalo's stellar output not to your liking?

i hate losing these close games. i understand people want to be positive but how are we supposed to react after seeing so many bricked threes, missed easy layups, awful FT shooting, and just not giving any effort to rebound balls, and STILL have these chances to win games? who's to blame there? mchale? bev? d-mo?
there was an excruciating stretch there in the third quarter (similar to what's happened before) where d-mo just looked lost and that unit just did nothing for a few minutes (terry was also in this unit). mchale finally calls a timeout...and there are NO subs!
whatever diplomatic fan portland is good yadda yadda yadda but this game was worse than the memphis one. they kinda made us earn it, and we blew it. this portland game we just blew it, period.

Glad I fell asleep and missed the 2nd half after seeing the meltdown that many of you guys are having in this thread. The sky is not falling. Losses, especially to good teams on the road when you are a man down, will happen. Anyone that didn't think the West was going to be a dog fight was kidding themselves. **** is about to get real in the playoffs, so stop whining and get ready for the ride.

Always knew we were going to lose. Same deal against Memphis. Any semi important game, standings wise, we always lose. People are going to say that it is an overeaction but we are not contenders. Not by a long way.........

I honestly think we can beat anyone besides Golden State in a 7 game series. I also believe that anyone can beat us. Try enjoying the ride rather than being consumed with so much negativity. Our team has flaws, but are still very good, and can hang with anyone when we play our best.

It's hard to be anything but pessimistic when we've been bounced out of the first round for the past two years. What is just as worrying is Harden's playoff record; are we just clinging onto blind hope that his regular season form translates into the playoffs?

The weaknesses of the team are well known and everyone has to pick up their game, some more than others.

Dwight's return will help if he is healthy, but we are not going to go anywhere unless Harden plays big in games like this and in the playoffs. Unfortunately, he wasn't able to pick up his game, unlike the last time he played against Portland and against Cleveland.

I hope James will not get disheartened, he has done many great things this season. I hope he will fight through these challenges, and emerge victorious.

    Go Houston Rockets!

....which is why I said also that anyone can beat us. Every single series in the west will be a dogfight. I wouldn't consider any results to be a huge upset due to how stacked the conference is. I can't wait to see how it plays out!

I missed the entire 2nd half except i woke up and re-played the last couple minutes of the game. Amazing effort by Corey Brewer but we fell short. I absoultey hate the blazers. They have been up on my #1 hated team list since the play offs.

    Top hated team list.

    1.) Blazers
    2.) Clippers
    3.) Dallas
4.) Warriors - Really don't hate them as much as i'm just annoyed by the media attention they get.
5.) Miami - Still mad about the Bosh debacle
6.) Utah - will always be at least on the list even when they are irrelevant.

I finally got the chance to watch the 4th quarter. So we had Harden guarding LMA ... tsk tsk

Shame on our bigs, if Harden is the best we have at guarding the post right now. No wonder he wasn't scoring.

Houston lost from really not be able to get the rebound at critical moments. Would you rather have Dwight and his hefty salary or Kaman, R. Lopez, Leonard ?

The Memphis game was a screwjob. The Rockets played poorly at the beginning of the 4th, but they rallied back only to have the refs hand it to the Grizzlies.

As for last night, look, they were playing at Portland sans Dwight. The Blazers are one of the best home teams in the league and they have a great frontline that's tough enough to guard with Dwight never mind without him. Honestly, if you wanna be upset, direct your ire at the Rockets for losing at home last month to Portland when they were on the 2nd night of a B2B after playing in OT at Dallas. THAT was the game that cost us the tiebreaker, not last night.

All I really want from the Rockets minimum is a 2-2 road trip. They can still do that by winning either tonight or Sunday at LA. Next week is a relatively easy 3-game homestand. Then the schedule gets tough again, but Dwight could be back around that time which will certainly help.

Long story, less long. Calm the F down, people! The 2nd and 3rd seed are still in play, although the margin for error is much smaller now.

The thing is, even if we would've made our FTs or squeezed out a win in OT after tying it up, it still wouldn't fix ****. I am glad we lost, maybe now they will put more emphasis on FT practice, boxing out, positioning, hustle and have a meeting about their goals and if they want it bad enough! Keep losing until we learn from it, that is the best way since McHale won't do much in game to punish guys.
