Shved put up 21 points, 10 rebounds and 7 assists in the Knicks 82-87 loss against the Jazz. I know he was buried deep at the end of the bench for us, and in the minutes he got he looked averaged. Just thought I'd make a mention of it. Maybe we were too quick to let him rot on the end of the bench? Maybe he's simply benefitting from playing on a team with no expectations. Who is to know.
People barely ever play good when being the 12th man and getting single digit minutes. You're not yourself and unter huge pressure, as every missed shot or turnover buries you deeper. This is why I hate the typical "he looked like trash when we gave him minutes, not Morey's fault he traded him" comments you get here all the time. Shved played solid before arriving on our team and everyone knew what he's capable of.
His PER was above average before he got here. He has some game, but he just didn't fit here with the roster we had. But, as is the clutchfans way... Damn you McHale and Morey!!
I agree with your points entirely. Shved wasn't trash, never said that. Just didn't prove anything in the scarce minutes he got.
I am glad for him, and all the other ex-Rockets except for the arrogant Chandler Parsons. It's much easier with little expectations.
When you're a role player on a good team, you don't get to be the focal point of the offense like Shved has been in the few minutes he played in PHI and NY. I think I'll wait for him to shot 40% in a season before I start missing him.
It's easy to put up stats for a terrible team with nothing to play for. Never hated the guy, but he tops out as a decent guy on a bad team or a fringe rotation guy on a good one.
The guy has the typical software Engineer / IT Programmer look. He would have been a useful asset for the Rockets IT department. Having said that, it is still disgusting that Morey got rid of one bench warmer in Shved to get another in Pringles but added two 2nd round picks (even if they are in the 50's)

I thought he should have gotten a little more playing time. The moment you do something wrong and you're a new-ish player, mchale will park you on the bench unless injuries force his hand. Happened to Dmo, Canaan, Shved, Papa, now Pablo. Pablo had a bad 2 minutes one game haven't seen him since.
Can't blame McHale for accountability. That system has worked for the improvement of the current core group.
Every average NBA player has these type of high games. Does not mean anything. That being said I do think that Shved could be a nice bench player, and he could have been usefull for our team. However he got injured and it was clear to Mchale that he would be traded sop there was no point in giving him minutes to get back into shape (when it can cost us games)
We also left Covington to rot on our bench. He blew up for the Sixers then simmered out. The problem is we want a steady fire. (Great imagery)
