Are we just going to ignore the fact that we still have no franchise QB?

BOB's head: "Well if Mallett really is on crystal, Hoyer will win me enough games to keep my job for another year... I still cannot believe that Dave Dravecky threw a football farther than Fitxpatrick last year..... man my balls itch."

They're 33-31 since 2011 with three winning seasons, two playoff wins and the best player in football locked up through his prime. I'm not suggesting they're an upper-echelon organization... but a mess? There are 10-12 franchises that would trade places with the Texans in a heartbeat.

Franchise QBs don't grow on trees. I do not understand why people are complaining so much.

Everything you say is true and had I not been beaten down from following Houston Professional Football for 50 years, I'd might even consider entertaining a bit of your optimism. There literally is nothing else out there in terms of QBs. But to pretend that Hoyer will come in here and magically wipe the stench off because of he gets to "compete" with Ryan "?" Mallet, Sorry, no. Ain't buying it. I've seen Houston teams chase their collective tails in this manner far too many times to muster up much in the way of acceptance or even suspension of belief. They are just buying scratch-off lotto tickets in the hope that one of them will hit. My only hope here is that BoB's ego isn't writing a check his butt can't cash.

Why are you still here then? If you're not even willing to give this regime a chance just one year after going 9-7 with a patch-work QB rotation, you're obviously not going to buy into anything this team does.

Also, if you're as experienced as you say you are, you should know better than to declare guys like Marriota as "locks" to be a franchise QB.

They are signing Hoyer as a backup, he's a downgrade from Fitz as a backup, but I still don't see any reason to care about Minnesota's new game manager. Was Bridgewater better than Fitz last year? No. Will he be better than Mallett or even Fitz this year? Who knows.....the fact that we don't know that shows that he's not a QB to be concerned about. Even if we drafted him, we still wouldn't have a franchise QB so I don't see the point.

My apologies for raining on your parade. I am REALLY trying to buy into whatever the hell BoB is doing here. I REALLY am. And you are right: Things could be much, much, much, much worse - Mallet could be gone and we would be looking at choosing between Fizpatrick, Savage, Hoyer & Keenum for a starting QB. Now, THAT would be a reason to go back to sniffing glue...

Airplane was one hilarious movie. "You are doing a fine job and we are all proud of you."

Fitz had his best season last year. So we definitely know O'Brien can maximize talent. He's similar to Kubiak thus far in that regard and has already shown more moxie.

Texans future is turning for the better.

He chose Mallett because he a least knows the system he wants to bring in.
Unfortunately, so does Brian Hoyer. If we get Hoyer, let's hope he can be his best in it.
At least he will have a line and a running game.

I refuse to believe that Hoyer is worse than Fitzpatrick.

Me too! Fitzpatrick at QB was a cruel joke on Texan's fans. Haven't we suffered enough?

IF he comes out in 2016.
He could go for Connor Cook, or Cardale Jones in 2016. Or Duffy.

He's still got all the tools. Scouts and coaches will tell you that there are other factors why Hackenberg regressed statistically this year. His offensive line was awful and his receiving corps was young and inexperienced. Not all that different from the reasons why scouts will tell you that Jameis Winston played better this year than in 2013 despite putting up worse stats.

Who knows? He could flourish with real talent around him. And maybe being handicapped in college could push him far enough down the draft board for the Texans to have a chance at him.
