Well no one is suggesting scrapping the system. More words in mouth?

If Andre can still be a #2 he'd be crazy to accept the reduced role and pay of a #3.

It isn't about ego. I guess hardens ego made him leave OKC. Nothing to do with him being overqualified for the bench rite

The system calls for the #2 to be a slot guy or a TE, Dre is neither so either he fits where he would fit at the #3 or they scrap it and change things around specifically to fit him. Honestly I'm not worried where he wants to spend his Hakeem Raptors years but don't compare that to Harden leaving the Thunder.

Guys there is no point arguing about role because that had nothing to do with it. It was all about money.

That's true too, he's really upset that he's not getting one more year of top tier pay.

Yes, you keep talking about the system. At its not the point. You earlier said he thought he was as good as he used to be and had a problem deferring to nuke.

Good thing you've backed away from that comment.

As far as Harden, no one would take a much smaller role than they can handle. Hakeem on the other hand should have retired. Nice try though

Again, Johnson may have one or two decent years left in him, but he's a LOT closer to 99 Olajuwon than he is to OKC Harden or even 2015 Dwight Howard. The guy is all but done.

Again the point was you made up stuff about what he said and are trying to change the subject to other things no one is disputing.

Man, to see him go to the Colts would be devastating. I hope its the Seahawks or Packers.

Lil Duval is a comedian. Andre went to his show the night before he announced he was leaving Houston.

Duvals caption said "When Andre Johnson came to my show Sunday I told him to come play for the jaguars he said "I'll retire first" I then made him get out my dressing room"

But he would go the Packers as a 3rd WR in a reduced role?

Useless tweets unless the teams are showing mutual interest... sure, they'd all gladly take him for a bare minimum salary, but I have a feeling that's not what Andre's brother is looking for.

bobby's drawing a fairly reasonable conclusion (as I did earlier) from the evidence that we've either known, or have been presented (although I'd argue, looking at the Patriots' system, that WR2 is often the 4th option because the RB usually plays a significant role in their passing game.)

This is fairly intuitive, guys. I think they genuinely wanted him back (which was likely a priorty from the owner) but they were honest with him about what that would look like. And if he agreed to be the 3rd/4th option, he was going to have to take a paycut. But he didn't so why broach the subject?

There are no bad guys here. The Texans did right by Andre Johnson, and he doesn't have to apologize for thinking he still has plenty left in the tank nor for wanting to play for a winner.

Andrew Luck played in Stratford here in Houston's Spring Branch ISD... and he probably watched Andre Johnson most of his life as a Houston resident... so I would think he would know how good it would be to throw to one of the GREAT ONES of the NFL in Andre Johnson...

I know he's not the one who is deciding this and I am not for certain he is lobbying for Johnson to play with him in Indianapolis, but... that would be a great fit and both would be tearing it up... even on our team.

ARGH. The more I think about it, the more I think it will happen. This is like Toronto in 2001 all over. ARGH. :(

Of likely greater influence, the Colts have, you know, played him twice a year for the past 12....

Who cares? Honestly - I understand it'll be weird but this happens ALL THE TIME. In every sport. Name a tremendous athlete - Michael Jordan, Peyton Manning, Earl Campbell, Hakeem Olajuwon...

Frankly, I would love it if the Colts spent their money on Frank Gore and Andre Johnson; beats the nightmare scenario of them landing Murray and Cobb, for example. Investing in 30-something year olds whose tanks could be empty sooner rather than later is good news for the Texans.
