Not really. A player can't leave a non-guaranteed contract but a team can. Which is his point

So he and many others don't get it but he completely understands and expected it? Now I don't get it.

A player's well being? Like who cares if player A is left depressed and suicidal as long as the team is doing okay?

He understands it's a business but doesn't agree with the move?

The Texans haven't exactly been the smartest team in the league. Look at their last draft and the contract they gave Cushing

He can whine about the terms of the contract, but teams are honoring the contract. For example, the team probably didn't like it that he was getting paid top dollar to only play 20 games in 2 years a few years back, but they still paid him anyway because the contract they signed required them to. When players have "player options" in the NBA and they opt out of their contracts it's not seen as them not honoring their contract and that's the exact same as what teams do in the NFL...not to mention that most players that are cut still get paid part of the deal (if they haven't received that money already). For example, Andre Johnson is still on the books for over 7 million dollars even if he's cut.

That's taking a pretty ridiculous extreme, but sure, even in those cases you don't hurt your franchise for one player or former player. it's tragic when players get all jacked up, but that's why they become 1%ers for playing a game. Every single player in the NFL is one of the highest paid people on the planet....they are well compensated for anything they go through, certainly better compensated than they would be doing anything else for a living.

Bad analogy. A player option is an actual thing that gives a player flexibility of the team. The non guaranteed aspect is a much bigger part of the NFL.

Andre would rather stay. I have no problem with that.

Eh, just because they are 1% doesn't mean they can't complain. Heck ceos and artists haggle over pay packages all the time.

We've wasted quite a bit of money and bad free agents and draft picks. If we had done a better job maybe we could keep Andre

It means they shouldn't complain, obviously when you have people with that much money you'll get complaints, they just won't be very valid.

As to wasting money, that's what we'd be doing if we kept Andre.

So you make x amount of money, no more complaining? That's silly. I guess Harden shouldnt have been a whiner and signed for a near max in OKC.

Well we wasted a lot of money on Fitz, Clowney, Nix and Cushing. So it would be par for the course.

The Clowney one is even worse because we could have gotten Mack or Bridgewater.

Seriously? I assumed we all inherently understood the context of this discussion; it does not extend beyond the football field.

At a certain level of compensation there will be no reasonable complaining, but obviously the more money someone makes, the more they complain. Spoiling people rarely makes the whining stop.

First of all, we didn't "waste" money on Fitz, he played very well (better than anyone would have thought) and put the team in a position to make the playoffs, no one knows if Clowney and Nix are a waste of money yet, you don't know that Cushing is a waste of money.....seriously this is sports talk radio caliber commentary, I know you can do better.

As to Mack or Bridgewater, we don't know that Mack wouldn't have gotten injured just like Clowney did and I honestly don't know why we are still even talking about Minnesota's new game manager....it's not like we'd have better QB performance if he was here.

I'm sure they are allowed, but there's not much incentive to give them out and it's WAY too risky in the NFL given how short careers are.

Maybe it was wrong choice of words which is why I asked but Bobby just proved that this goes beyond the football field. He does think that a football team is more important than a person's health and well being. smh

Oh wow, you are so very off topic and out in left field. Please don't try to turn this into a D&D type conversation. What should be most important to an NFL franchise? The success of the franchise. End of story.
