Hoyer might not have been the 3rd best QB on the Texans roster last year.
Hmmmm, well maybe more of a middle of the road receiver will do and look to the draft then because Mallett should be priority now,Just no Hoyer!
He's largely considered the top FA WR on the market, he'll get paid and it'll probably be by a very good team.
Im sure hoping all this talk about Hoyer is just smoke to make other teams think we arent that interested in keeping Mallett so his price will stay reasonable.
Looks like the Eagles will land Byron Maxwell: <blockquote class="twitter-tweet" lang="en"><p>Eagles and free agent CB Byron Maxwell are getting very close. Hard to see Jacksonville or Atlanta beating Philly out. Forget climate, $$$</p>— Jayson Braddock (@JaysonBraddock) <a href="https://twitter.com/JaysonBraddock/status/574394503265542144">March 8, 2015</a></blockquote> <script async src="//platform.twitter.com/widgets.js" charset="utf-8"></script>
Would be surprised if we could lure a top notch wr given our qb situation. Would be very happy to be wrong, but I'd rather focus on other positions and draft a wr at 16.
On a discount deal too <blockquote class="twitter-tweet" lang="en"><p>one receiver off the market. <a href="https://twitter.com/hashtag/Texans?src=hash">#Texans</a> RT <a href="https://twitter.com/AdamSchefter">@adamschefter</a>: Randall Cobb back to Green Bay on a 4-year, $40 million deal, per source.</p>— Tania Ganguli (@taniaganguli) <a href="https://twitter.com/taniaganguli/status/574409746498916352">March 8, 2015</a></blockquote> <script async src="//platform.twitter.com/widgets.js" charset="utf-8"></script>
Turned down an extra $1.5MM per year to stay in GB... wow. He'll only be 28 when he gets his next deal though so he has another chance to cash.
<blockquote class="twitter-tweet" lang="en"><p>Texans would like to have Mallett and Hoyer, who spent 3 years with OBrien at New England.</p>— John McClain (@McClain_on_NFL) <a href="https://twitter.com/McClain_on_NFL/status/574412190951718912">March 8, 2015</a></blockquote> <script async src="//platform.twitter.com/widgets.js" charset="utf-8"></script>
smart, Rogers will inflate his stats for the next contract which is why it will be tough for HOU to land a free agent WR without overpaying I really hope AJ80 signs with GB, keep him out of the AFC and he deserves an elite QB for his final years
Interesting. We'd probably cut Fitz (save $3.2MM) and then give Hoyer around $4MM and Mallett around $5-$6MM. I'd be ok with that.
