Now, let me start off by saying Jones and Motiejunas were more versatile scorers in the D-League. They also had other skills such as passing and dribbling skills which were better than Capela's ability in those areas. But Capela has a pretty nice stat line down in the Valley. That's gotta mean something, right?

    Per 36:

    Capela: 24.1 pts, 14.8 reb, 4.5 blks, .630 TS%

    Jones: 22.2 pts, 10.5 reb, 1.6 blks, .560 TS%

    D-Mo: 21.2 pts, 10.2 reb, 0.4 blks, .554 TS%

What conclusions, if any, can we draw from this?

Either Dmo or Jones need to have a baby with Capela.

Morey was saying if the NBA had a well developed farm system like the MLB, Capela would be one of the hottest prospects and everyone would know who his name.

Capela is likely not playing for us this year, but for sure bring him up next year to be backup center, no matter what

Sure he can. Question is how efficiently. Need to bring him up and see what he has with Dwight still out, TJ nicked up, D-Mo fatigued and Dorsey ... Just not really a good option.

I don't what to make of that. Capela has looked like trash whenever he played against NBA competition. I don't remember Jones or Motiejunas looking anywhere near as bad at the start of their careers.

Conclusion: My money is on Capela being another solid pick by Morey just like Terrence and Donatas. So many were ready to throw in the towel or trade those 2 for freaking Brandon Bass. Now TJ and D-Mo are excellent, excellent NBA players. Capela will be one too. He needs some burn next season so he can blossom 3rd year. I'm a big Capela fan. I heed the WARP metric. Dude is off the charts.

Edit: And he can dance. He looked real comfortable bustin a move in front of all the other D-league players from different teams at that one D-league showcase. It seems insignificant, but once he gets his nerves together, he can harness his swag.

He got position and got rebounds at a 14.5 rebounds per 36 minute clip, so he was not worthless. He just got nervous and clanked the shots.

Capela could be very good. Just needs to continue to bulk up, but he definitely has a future as a Rocket. It just seems like all our 1st round picks are projects that need 1-3 years to develop...

Better than a bust, I guess!
