I think he says that because Curry is the front runner in the media eyes due to GSW's record.

Anything is possible. But the difference is nobody knows who Bob Myers is because he's not on twitter everyday talking wreckless.

That championship doesn't belong to Morey. I don't like Kerr either. But his comments stung because Morey does talk too much. Morey needs to get off twitter and worry about getting this team out the 1st round

Don't think that Kerr means anything malicious. Most likely just ribbing Morey for his frequent talks of Harden/MVP. Kerr probably heard from his GM Bob Myers about the exchange that Myers and Morey had on the topic of MVP at the Sloan Conference and thought of Morey when asked to discuss Steph's candidacy for that award.

Tell that to the player who actually wins it. Outside of winning a championship, MVP is the single highest honor a professional basketball player can earn. It's ludicrous to say "it means nothing" just because you can't separate individual success from team success. Nobody is saying it's EITHER Harden wins MVP, or the Rockets win a championship. In fact, the two are very closely related, because in order for us to win, Harden HAS to play like an MVP. I can't believe some of you don't understand what Morey is trying to do here. Like, it seriously boggles my mind how short-sighted and tunnel-visioned some of you are being regarding something as innocent as sending out a few tweets praising Harden's phenomenal season. Why even watch sports if all you're going to do is belittle and marginalize all the work someone does, even though they haven't attained the single hardest thing to achieve in all of sports??

Are you the CEO of some Fortune 500 company? Even if you are, do you consider yourself the perfect embodiment of what you aspire to be?? If not, then how can you sit here and criticize someone else for doing exactly that? Morey has done everything in his power to get this team into a deep playoff run.....now it's time for the players and coaches to come through for him. Has he made mistakes? Of course, everybody does when they're trying to achieve perfection. However, should he be crucified for constantly trying to make this team better, and for supporting his players when they're breaking out?? ESPECIALLY in an atmosphere where the national media is doing you NO FAVORS with the fans? I praise my employees every single chance I get because if I don't do it, who is?? Sometimes you have to elevate those around you so they can in turn, elevate you as well.

Say what you want about Morey but he keeps up relevant all season long. Memphis is a damn good team and nobody is talking about them.

    Just gonna admit it.

I want Harden to win MVP because I don't think we are winning the championship this year, so this would be a great consolation prize.

That's exactly what I'd want if I'm Memphis

MVP thing is a distraction. Focus on winning and getting everyone healthy. Let's get that Finals MVP instead.

no surprise the various shows on ESPN think Kerr crushed Morey with his comment.

Because this is how things look to most people who are not Houston Rockets fans.

Anyone get the feeling that Morey isn't well liked around the league?

Can someone explain to me why campaigning for your best player is a bad thing?

Don't listen to people like that, clutchfans is a forum where you can voice your opinions. Morey circle jerk is not a pre-requisite to being a rockets fan.

This got me thinking and this is what I came up with.

The reason Morey is so vocal about Harden being MVP is because it would make Morey look good....and it should.

Looking at the past MVP's, when was a last time a GM traded for a player that would eventually become MVP?

    This season MVP canidates

    Harden - Traded for
    Curry - Drafted
    Westbrook - Drafted
LeBron - Went back to the Cavs as a FA

    Past MVP's

    2013-2014: Durant - Drafted
2011-2013: LeBron - Took his talents to South Beach
    2010-2011: Rose - Drafted
    2008-2010: LeBron - Drafted
    2007-2008: Kobe - Drafted
    2006-2007: Dirk - Drafted
2004-2006: Nash - Signed as a FA (lol Cuban)
    2003-2004: Garnett - Drafted
    2001-2003: Duncan - Drafted
    2000-2001: Iverson - Drafted
    .....and so on

Actually looking at the list of MVP's, last time a player was traded for and went on to win MVP was ironically Moses Malone when the Rockets traded him to the 76'ers.

So if Harden wins MVP, Morey has done something that hasn't been done since 1982 by trading for Harden.
