Are we just going to ignore the fact that we still have no franchise QB?

I don't understand our strategy of having no quarterback to build around. I understand that there were no viable options at the #1 spot. We missed out on drafting Teddy. There are deals to be made with teams with a starter quality QB2. I feel like we're just wasting years gambling on the Keenums, Fitzpatricks, Malletts and Savages of the league.

Who are the franchise qb's the Texans are not going out to get right now? Tell us where all the franchise backup qb's are?

Mallett is the poster child for "starter quality QB2"s...

Neither do the Jets, Bills, Titans, Browns, Eagles, Redskins, Bucs, Rams, and you can argue the Jags, Bears, Raiders, and Vikings.

2 decades before manning came along for indy.
23 years after bart starr for favruh to show up in green bay.
40 years for bledsoe to get hurt and giveway to brady.

we've been around for 12 years. My' franchise qb Analytics' tell me he is just around the corner, anywhere from 2015 to 2020. book it! maybe.

It's a fact. A few teams have a franchise QB and even fewer teams have a franchise-worthy QB.

Look, I was one of the biggest advocates for us to draft Mack and Bridgewater, but there is simply no point in crying over spilled milk. What do you wan't us to do? Who do we trade for? You can't say honestly that Mallet would be any worse than Matt Cassel nor can you say he'd be better than Alex Smith. Might as well give him a look and see what we've got. We kind of have no choice anyways, you don't just "get" a franchise QB by clicking your heels twice or wishing upon a star. You draft him, most of the time. If it was so easy, most of the teams in this league would have one by now. He is without a doubt in my mind though, a much better option than Cassel or most backup QBs considering that strong arm and fast release.

Not really sure what there is to do about the QB situation.

Not like we can just phone up Green Bay and swing a deal with ARodg.

We hired BOB so we wouldn't be one of those teams that ends up churning through #1 QB picks year after year.

BOB went out and got two QBs he deemed worthy. Mallet and Savage. Let the man do his work.

I don't even think that's the case. Unlike the average Joe fan, O'Brien seems to understand blowing everything on an unproven QB, or settling and over-investing in QB's he doesn't fully believe in is a waste of time. He knows it can set your franchise back. Plenty of coaches have lost their jobs soon after drafting a new starting "franchise" QB.

O'Brien is smart enough to not reach and that is an incredibly important trait to have in a leader. There isn't anyone available worth taking a big risk on, very few franchises have that luxury. O'Brien understands that and that's half the battle.

My Chicago native co-worker says Cutler might be cut soon. At the very minimum (other than costing the Texans a fortune), we'd have a "franchise" quarterback to complain about week in and week out.

Even if we had drafted one of those guys we'd still have no franchise QB so all of this is whining for the sake of whining. Like it or not, this team is going to win with defense and the run game.....just like Seattle.
