The problem in the NBA is that unlike baseball and football, perception IS reality. You don't get to superstar level by simply playing well. You need hero aura as well, the kind of thing that makes refs blow the whistle if someone even breathes on you. That's what Morey's trying to do here. The numbers support him too, as no one has a higher estimated wins added so far this season. The problem is that everyone else also realizes that perception is reality in the NBA, and they are not going to allow us to get away with trying to alter the national perception of the Rockets, which is that we suck, we always sucked, and we should remain irrelevant in every sport because they hate us.
either way, it doesn't change my life at all whether he wants it or not. That being said, he deserves to win the MVP.
Ethan is absolutely right. Morey's whiny campaign for Harden is an embarrassment. What good did David Robinson's MVP do that one year?
If Morey wasn't pushing so hard the media would hardly be talking about Harden and you know it... The one thing that Houston fans have complained about was the lack of attention when a Houston team is doing well. Morey is making people pay attention.

Strauss is admittedly a gigantic homer. As the Warriors have gotten better, the more irrational he's become. That he dislikes Harden in general only does more to invalidate his opinion .

if westbrook win over harden it'd be a disgrace.. not because he doesn't deserve it, but because the reason harden isn't top of the list (in some people eyes) is because he doesn't have the top record. Westbrook is in 8th place...

Eden Straws doesn't understand the difference between whining and promoting. These days social media can help you take control of the dialogue the same way that one dude made that video and now everyone still thinks Harden can't play defense. Morey needs to change the media's perception on Harden and Dwight since both have been maligned by the national media. That's really what this is all about. Other teams campaign for MVP as well. If I recall correctly Zach Lowe would tweet pictures of things that teams would send to the media to remind them to vote for their guy. Only item I remember is the Rockets sending him a Harden shave kit but there were other pretty good ones. Straws is the only one who is really whining. I don't think anyone else really gives a F if Morey tweets about Harden MVP. A GM can be a fan just like anyone else.
