I went to Goode Co on Kirby a few months ago and they raised the prices on the meals by about $3. No way I'm paying a premium price for that subpar BBQ. I've never liked their sauce. Dat Pecan Pie tho. Still really like Luling City Market, but the last time I picked up from there it wasn't quite as good. Might have been an off day.
Forgot the show was that Sunday, thankfully. BBQ is Saturday, we'll eat around 4. If you're already in Austin, come on up.
We should do an Austin-area clutchfans bbq/beer throwdown sometime once the weather warms up. I'll haul a pit and the wood to Krause Springs....
Luther's and The Feed Store. Those were our staples in Spring when we first moved to Texas back in 1980. The chicken fried steak at The Feed Store was awesome.
Seconded. Buck, are you going to first or second Sturgill show. I know Nigel is going to Sunday, but thought you said earlier you were going to first one. I won't be there until Sunday afternoon, most likely. Probably moving houses around that time.
Thankfully, the Sunday one. I won't be in any kind of shape to be out in public by about 8pm on Saturday.
SWEET! I think the first one is like that Thursday though. I'll be in touch as we get closer. No T-bone, another friend who I don't think you've met will be joining.
Add the pulled pork to this list, but not too much. I think they do it really well. Mild dollops of the espresso sauce will make everything good, but it all stands alone on its own.
QFT! I grew up in The Woodlands and back in the 80's, The Feed Store's Chicken Fried Steak was MY JAM! And the fried okra...
Sorry, I don't keep up with this thread because it will just make me sad but what are generally considered the best places for BBQ in Houston these days? Like, short visit, can only go to one, don't want to drive too far from central-ish location.
