They still can't do it like we do. Brisket heaven will always be in Texas. Nothing NYC can do about that.
I'll take some pictures, but the Easter BBQ, as of now, consists of: whole ham, about 15lbs, off a wild pig cabrito! whole kid, butchered kosher/halal-style by me the day before venison shoulder and ribs, braised then smoked Beef ribs (the real kind) homemade venison (italian) and pork (german) sausage FFA San Antone Stock Show pork butt & ribs stuffed jalapenos Brisket is for amateurs.
I assumed, given your nom de bbs, that you were actually from Texas. Guess I gave you too much credit.
Its not half bad for what it is for a chain and defiantly as a replacement to Luthor's. They also have some brisket tamales that are actually pretty damn good.
It's "Luther's", btw. That's a blast from the past, haven't been there in 20 years, Gessner and I-10ish, right? Goode Co. was solid for their niche stuff: bbq turkey breast, duck, jalapeno sausage, bread, jambalaya, pecan pie, that kinda thing. Their meat was good but nothing special.
My dad and I would go crash that Luther's all you can eat ribs back in the day. The ribs weren't anything like I've had since then but damn when you can throw down a mess load of ribs for ten bucks or whatever, not bad.
That's awesome! My old man & I used to do the same thing. Hadn't thought about that in a long time. Ribs and longnecks and bread and pickles and onions. Maybe a side or 2, but I can't remember what was good there..
Agreed on Goode. Maybe they have gotten worse or BBQ in Houston has gotten better. But had some Goode Company last year after not having it for a long time and it was super disappointing. Brisket was very average and their sauce had an odd marinara like flavor. Pecan pie was still good though.
George Forman will be disappointed I spelled it wrong or remembered wrong that he used to be their spokesman. Seems like they were all over Houston and the one I remember was in the Woodlands that was replaced by Pappas which was for the better. Fortunately the Woodlands has stuff much better than the used to.
What time should I arrive? Sound delicious. I'll even show up the night before to help cook and drink!
I'll be making a detour on the way to the Sturgill show. I don't recall the BBQ at Luther's, but their cheeseburgers were phenomenal.
Yeah I got some BBQ from Goode Co. in Cypress off 290 for the Superbowl and it was just OK. I feel like the one off Kirby was better back when I used to eat that a lot.
