im really hoping we make a play for him...really think he could help us against the bigs we still have trouble guarding...i think james/mchale could get him to run pnr effortlessly..

So it's 5pm EST. Have the Javale McGee sweepstakes begun?

It most definitely was. But wrap him up, I'll take him. Just don't let him dribble or pass, and he already provides more than Dorsey. The shot blocking alone on this team will go from excellent to outrageous.

Even with a healthy Dwight we need more size! Dwight is only 6-10. D-Mo is a legit 7 footer but too soft/weak defensively. We could definitely use the length and athleticism of Javale McGee(7-0, 270) situationally in the playoffs. I always thought we should have kept/signed Hassan Whiteside for the same reason long before the hype.

Basically, if we sign McGee, we are relegating one of our PFs to 'DNP CD' status.

It would be Howard for 35, SURELY Smith of the pine for 25-30, one of the other PFs for 30-35, and McGee for 5-10.

Howard returning is no guarantee and even if he does, how healthy and effective will he be is anyone's guess. Doubtful that even a 100% healthy Howard will be able to play 35 minutes immediately anyway. He would need some time to get himself in game shape. It's imperative we get McGee, not just as insurance for Howard but to alleviate the beating that D-Mo is receiving at the 5. D-Mo starts games well but is worn down considerably by 3rd quarter.

Rockets need a better solution at the 5 than Dorsey. McGee does not need more than 15-25 minutes, depending on the matchup. Plus McGee once fancied himself a 3 point shooter, when he was at Nevada he was 33% from 3. McHale will let anyone shoot the 3 ball.

Hey don't get me wrong! I would take McGee over Dorsey all day. Gives us a shot at progressing a round without Howard (McGee 20mpg alongside our fleet of 4s)

Couldn't they just buy out dorsey? I asked earlier, and never got a reply about waiving him and using the stretch provision it seems petty for his 1 mil contract but 1mill over 3 yrs doesn't really seem like it would have any signifigant impact on our salary cap, especially with it steadily going up. Whos to say moreys buddy hinkie doesn't do him a solid, and pick him up on waivers. Its not like it would really matter for philly they are having teouble meeting minimum salary. Does anyone really think dorsey will be back next year anyways?

McGee may not be the brightest guy but he has the type of athleticism and rebounding ability to fit nicely in the Rockets system. He is VERY athletic and could work well on p n r situations with Harden. He's a solid defender down low as well, and the Rockets need to add size.

Since someone posted his bloopers video here's a highlight video from the playoffs a few years ago:
