Losing today hurts Hardens chances of getting MVP because his record not being close to GSW and being *just* the 3rd seed is what is holding him back.
Agree. And anyway, GSW caught a fade from the Pacers when Steph didn't play -- that didn't move him ahead in the MVP race, as far as I recall.
Steph Curry has missed 1 game this year. (57 games of GSW's 58 games played thus far) James Harden has missed 0 games until tonight. (59 games out of Rocket's 59 games) Howard has only played 32 games out of the Rockets 59 games. Curry has Klay, and Bogut & Lee, and Iggy. Lebron has missed 11 of the Cavs' 61 games. He has Irving and Love. Harden is the MVP no question. It's so obvious that the powers that be in the NBA (and please do not be so naive as to believe there are no powers that be) are doing all they can to rip the MVP away from him.
people on this site need to chill. i want harden to win mvp. i want him to win pretty bad to be honest. but if you look at harden/curry's numbers curry is not that far behind him along with better shooting %'s the nba over everything i assume is trying to make it interesting for all the fans, and they want it to be a close race.
Brewer will have 25 and we will win. Kj hopefully gets some minutes and proves he will be a valuable backup. I am optimistic, cynics have given us no chance so lets prove them wrong. the role players have to step up for their MVP
You guys need to stop using the final score as a barometer for success in this game. The fact is that we are heavy, heavy underdogs. But if we can get more of our supporting guys producing and actually thriving in spurts without suckling from the teet of James Harden, then that would be a fantastic sign going forward. I am hoping for consistent scoring down low in the form of D-Mo with at least 15 kickouts for the open three. I do think we may challenge for the NBA record in 3pt attempts this game. And I'm expecting nothing from, but quietly hopeful for the chances of guys like Nick Johnson and KJ McDaniels.
If Atlanta finish with the best record, the whole best player on the best team thing for Curry dissipates. It's almost ironic that Harden misses the game against the one team that can pretty much erase Steph from the conversation. Not that i want to see it, but the thing that would do best for Harden's mvp campaign is for Atlanta to absolutely destroy us.
I'm chiller than Chilcutt, baby. It's all good, we're just talking here. Curry's numbers are good, that's why I brought up how he has help. With Harden, the entire defense is trying to figure out how to collapse on him and stop him. Curry is surrounded by a lights-out All-Star starter, and near All-Stars like Lee & Iggy. If Klay missed 30 games like Howard, then he'd have more consideration from me.
For the love of God, one single game without harden won't move the needle in anyway in regards to the MVP race. We've seen a countless # of games where teams come out for one night without their star and play over their heads for the victory. Wouldn't be any different here. And for those who are scared of us winning because of it...REALLY? Cmon be better than that. Be a rocket fan not just a HOF
Relax about the MVP race. Let's just go out, try some new lineups, and be a trap game for a great team. Enjoy the show.
Seems more like an opinion:

Probably not. More likely Prigioni w/ Terry. if we get blown out, i expect kj to play... hate to squander a 2nd rd pick for someone who won't even play this year...
A loss further separates are ability to get to the #2 seed which is the heaviest factor to arguing against Harden as MVP. People think that he wont get it unless he's #2 seed because Curry is the #1. It won't change public opinion on how valuable he is to the team...but it will get us a win closer to that second seed
