Given that Colin Powell also did it during his tenure, it doesn't seem like it a big deal. Both likely did it for the same reasons: it allows them to protect their image and it allows them to more freely cultivate private sector / personal relationships that they can later leverage. On the hierarchy of non-ideal things that government actors can and have done, this falls at the bottom.

She has no credible opposition within the party, she will promise the corpocracy the status quo and she will be running against some climate denying, creationist, trickle down clown.

rage all you want, she don't care

Anyone who lived through the last few years knows that Commodore either can't interpret what he reads or likes to simply lie in his thread titles.

Countless politicians accept unlimited campaign donations from shadowy PACs, that never have to disclose who they are, and allow the foundation and operation of our government to be bought and sold to the highest bidder? Nobody bats an eye.

A presidential candidate deletes their emails? Everybody start sharpening your pitchforks!

The emails weren't even deleted, as far as we know.

Regardless of whether or not Clinton did anything wrong, while she was secretary of state, if she conducted government business on her personal email account, she would have to preserve them. I haven't read anything proving that she didn't preserve anything she was supposed to have preserved.

True. It was pretty short-sighted of her and the entire administration to think this was fine.

In fact, knowing the Clintons, it's likely they took actions to do the exact opposite.

The obvious question is, how was classified information transmitted to Clinton?

Stupid thing for HRC to do, but I doubt this does much, if any, damage to her presidential aspirations, even if her opponents run attack ads.

At the end of the day, most Americans will not give a damn about this.

From the article, we know that the State Department only asked for the emails 2 months ago. And then she provided 55,000 pages worth of emails. That clearly says that she didn't wipe her emails in mass, at the very least. Whether she deleted some individual ones, we have no idea. You still have yet to be able to substantiate the claim you made in headline. Interesting that you continue to post here but completely avoid that issue.

Seems the federal regulation banning the practice of using private emails didn't go into affect until 2 years after Hillary left the State department.

That Story About Hillary Clinton’s Private Email Account Isn’t as Awful as It Seems

The article doesn’t say which federal regulation, though. Why? Perhaps because the federal regulations went into effect in late November, 2014 when President Obama signed H.R. 1233, modernizing the Federal Records Act of 1950 to include electronic communications. It was signed two years after Clinton stepped down.

Not just Powell, but more than 50 White House staffers used email accounts managed by the RNC in violation of the Presidential Records Act.

Of course, since this is a Democrat, the Fox outrage machine is about to ramp up to ludicrous speed!

I would hope that classified information wasn't transmitted in electronic format at all, certainly not in email. We don't even deal with "classified" information where I work, but we have strict rules on "confidential, sensitive, or mission critical" data and one of them is that it can't go out in electronic format unless encrypted.

I doubt it does much to her presidential campaign. But, I am unhappy about her using private email to conduct official business, regardless of whatever records act. It deserves a slap on the wrist. Since she isn't in government for her wrist to be slapped though, I'll just shake my head disapprovingly.

It was strategic. But I get it. In this day and age of politics she was trying to protect herself from exactly what was going to happen. Someone was going to go digging to make some news. It was forward thinking. As to the big picture, I would think most politicians do a lot of business in their personal email. So there's likely no teeth here because this would go all the way up the food chain to various degrees. And nobody wants to go into that can of worms. So it's a headline. But little more.

werent there like 5 million missing emails from the bush administration, including emails from cheney?

    bush-clinton-bush-clinton-bush-clinton-bush-clinton-bush-clinton-bush-clinton-bush-clinton-bush-clinton-bush-clinton-bush-clinton-bush-clinton-bush-clinton-bush-clinton...

can we just round up all the bushs and clintons, send them to an island and let them take turns being president and leave the rest of us alone? 300,000,000 people in this country and this is the best we can do?

    TWO FAMILY MONARCHY FTW!!!
