I'd be more interested in Brian Hartline (who was the person I thought they were referring to when they said "former Dolphin").

How would Wes feel about continuing to play on the killer tray system!?!?!?

    Will we go after Suh?

With the Andre Cut, that's 8m cap space, we are currently sitting around 10m under.

    8+10 = 18m

That's enough to grab Suh. We could also free up another 3m by cutting Fitz, could use this money and get creative with signing bonus to resign Kareem or another FA corner.

    Cap Source. http://overthecap.com/salary-cap/houston-texans/

So we end up with Mallet, Fitzpatrick, Newton, Andre, Newton, Reed, Kjack, and Lewis gone all for Suh? Not going to happen.

We should be able to ship off Dre for a late round pick. Will have anywhere from $18-$21MM in space depending on who you talk to (and that is before possible Myers and Joseph cuts).

Enough to resign Kareem and then fill a couple of needs with veterans (WR, RT, ILB, OLB, S). Keep the cap sheet as clean as possible going forward and draft well.

There is no chance in hell that anyone would trade for Dre because they'd have to eat his laughable contract. No one in the world wants him for 16 mil given that he's probably worth closer to 6 at this stage of his career.

Our fantastic front office asked this man to take a reduce role after catching 85 passes from 4 mediocrity QB'S. Are you freaking serious man . Lol its all about that contract and that's it.

You put Dre with an elite qb and dude will still catch over 100 passes for 1400+. But you are right about the contract. If traded he will have to take a pay cut.

No, an elite QB would spread the ball around to where he wouldn't get that many targets. He might have one more "FU" type of season left in him, but he's not an elite WR anymore and IMO is very much like Olajuwon in 1999 or 2000.

Personally it's a really smart move by the FO not wasting money on nostalgia.

How many catches a year was Welker getting with Tom Brady bro?

And it will be a smart move if they are able to fill that big void. We still don't have a legit starting QB and now we don't have a legit #1 WR. Nuk might be able to fill that role . If so we are back to square one. Who's our #2 WR, something we been lacking for a few seasons before we drafted Nuk.
One more thing Bobbythegreat, we are lacking a TE as well.

Looks like we are going in the wrong direction

30 year old Wes Welker? A lot. How many did he have this season with Peyton Manning at 33? 49.

Nuk was already our best WR last season and he'd still be that this year. Sure, we need to find another WR but given that they already told Andre that they weren't planning on starting him in every game, they probably plan on addressing that backup WR spot in the draft or FA....or both. If Andre Johnson was willing to accept a limited role to go along with a massive pay cut then it would be great to keep him, but they decided it wasn't worth it to hurt the team for nostalgia's sake and I commend them for it.

That's because he was suspended for the 1st four games correct?
I think it's about the contract and that's it. If he would have taken the pay cut, he still would have played his usual role.

We will see how Nuk does without Andre's. Nuk was better because teams prepared their defense to stop Andre not Nuk. Dude was the beneficiary of Dre getting most of the attention. Come on Bobbythegreat you know that bro. Lol

Again we will see how this thing pans out next season.

He played 14 games, one fewer than Andre Johnson did.

I think the "take it or leave it" attitude is because of the contract, but him accepting a reduced role is about his limitations as a player. He wasn't getting open like he once could and he wasn't holding on to the ball like he once could. Andre cost the Texans at least 2 wins based on fumbles or drops, that's unacceptable from a 16 million dollar WR.

As to Nuk, he was also the 2nd most sure-handed WR in the NFL last year....that helped. Also, we don't know what the Texans plan on doing in FA and the draft, there's a solid chance that they end up with a better receiving corps this year than last.

I hear what you are saying Bobbythegreat . My thing is he still caught 85 passes with 4 different QB'S.
But oh well his career here is done.

Yes Nuk is sure handed but I'm curious to see how he performs when teams are geared to stopping him.

"career" is not done... but he's done being the type of player that causes a $16 million dollar cap hit.

Hell, even Calvin Johnson at this point may not be worth that number due to the number of games he misses every year.

The league is system-centric; there are certainly players (like AJ in his prime) that elevate systems. But the idea teams spent all week gamplanning for Andre Johnson when the Texans had a wealth of offensive weapons (prime Schaub, Foster, Daniels...) is patently silly, especially last year when he was obviously either fried or apathetic.

I could list... dozens of WRs who had inferior second bananas who nonetheless still made plays all over the field. Hopkins looks to be an exceptional talent; he'll sufer exactly zero drop-off.
