What are the odds of him being in the NBA after his rookie deal? What are the odds of him being a starter after his rookie contract?
1. Pretty good unless he is dinged. He's coming up on RFA next summer. I expect he'll work hard to get that contract. Don't know what he'll do after that. Don't know what he'll do with his career if he is traded to a bad team. 2. I think less than 50% at best on him being a starter on a playoff team. Probably right at 50/50 or a little above on starting on a lottery team.
RIGHT NOW the odds are 80/20 (only injury could prevent him being in the league 5 years from now). When will you learn something about basketball? It is SHOCKING that you think a 3rd year player, in his 2nd year of starting, who is highly skilled, large, and has learned to defend, AND is getting 15/9/2, is 50/50 to be in the league. SHOCKING.
So, if he gets a deal after his rookie deal, he will be in the league in 5 years! 1 year = rookie deal finished. 4 years = contract (I imagine any team trying to poach him from us would offer 4 years?) If he is 50/50 on being a starter (sounds right), then surely there are very small odds of him not being in the NBA at age 28? Perhaps you could provide an example of a 23 year old PF, who was better than 13 and 7 as a starter, who wasn't in the NBA at 28 (and with injury not being the reason)
As long as Jones can average 16PPG, 9RPG & 2BPG like he is doing now as a starter and as long as there are no injuries or he does not lose interest in Basketball then I will say there is a 100% chance he will still be in the league 5 years from now. I will also go on record as saying he will be a very rich man.
It's like he's incapable of just enjoying the current team. Always nitpicking and pushing his "pay for my fake insider info" business. Newsflash: If a guy like Big Baby can stay in the league as long as he has, well so can TJ. You don't need a 3 point shot to be good. TJ was integral in defeating the Cavs. Admit that he's a key piece, and very good one, to our current team and let's move on to Atlanta!
He is just very liquid in his definitions... Basically admits there is no chance he won't be in the league, but still says it is a 50/50... Maybe he just loves arguing?
He's not getting 15/9/2. He's getting 12/7/2. This might influence you slightly. Maybe. Maybe not. https://weaksideawareness.wordpress.com/2011/11/22/average-nba-career-length-for-players-details/ And this last link I'm posting here should be studied in detail. You can plug and chug some data on this one if you like using any statistic. http://www.sloansportsconference.co...sting-NBA-Player-Performance_DouglasHwang.pdf
Not to be too much of a pile on, BUT If he is 16/9/2 as a starter NEXT season, boy gonna get paid BIG TIME. If he progresses to 18/9/2 (and there is every reason to believe a young guy with athletic gifts, and skills oozing out of every pore, WILL progress) - suddenly he IS in the all-star game conversation. I'm not saying it will happen, but I would say there are FAR greater odds (right now) of him being better than a 16/9/2 guy than there is of him being out of the league before 28 (discounting injuries).
What world are you living in??? He is 16.3ppg and 9rpg with 1.9bpg as a starter. The sole reason he didn't start (and played very limited minutes) in a number of games is because he suffered a serious injury, and had to work his way back into the lineup (has NOT taken him long to start again, and I'll be surprised if he isn't still starting when Dwight returns). Talk us through the world as viewed through balcoholic coloured lenses... lol.
And have you answered the question yet? Provide an example to back up your claim. The articles do not do that, they just talk in general. Give us a real example, a person, a name. Provide an example to back up your claims. Stop throwing crap against the wall, you clearly have diarrhoea, and none of it is sticking....
Tjones is going to be out of the league because he doesn't have a jumpshot but somehow Rubio is a stud we are looking for. LOL
Maybe we needs us some PatPat and CH? Let us all give Terrence Jones some credit as he deserves a lot of it. Look what he did while out, look at what he's doing now. No pun intended, but - - the man has fresh legs during the dog days of a long season. TJo and DHo might just be in great position to help us win a few extra p/o games, and rounds. I appreciate the hey out of this guy and I have never been on his train. No, I don't believe we will see him as an all-star but he can be a very productive rotation player in the NBA. Is that not enough? It is for me.
3. Who cares what you think and your fantasy stats? The percentage of him being a starter on a playoff team has less to do with talent level than the state of the team he is traded to, regardless of talent level. Completely irrelevant.
Since I'm pretty sure you're referring to my having said he projected out that way I should clarify that I was paraphrasing someone else (duh) from a months-old conversation when I used that term. I have chronic Lyme disease and it's in my brain and not only has it contributed to some really regrettable mood swings on the board (I hope I've been doing better since my return in that way) but my memory is VERY poor. It's totally likely I used the wrong term when I said all-star. It was all-star, superstar, star, or elite player. Definitely one of those. When I'm wrong or even might be though I admit it as soon as it occurs to me I might be and that's what I'm doing here in case I used the wrong term. Not trying to start this back up because I don't have anything else to say on it, just clarifying.
Wasn't specifically referring to you. There are a number of posters that think Jones is headed straight to All-Star status.
