Sorry to take this negatively, but how are freaking Steve Francis and T-mac legends and Mutombo is not?
Why stop with Deke? Why not Kevin Willis or Juwan Howard? What about legends Mark Jackson, Rick Barry, or Charles Jones?
Deke spent his prime on ATL and Denver. This is like saying Hakeem should be remembered as a Raptor legend, or Jordan as a Wizards legend.
Ask NBA fans and they will know about his Rockets days, maybe even his Knicks days. Some might even leave ATL or Denver out all together.
Then they're too young to matter. Career history 1991–1996 Denver Nuggets 1996–2001 Atlanta Hawks 2001–2002 Philadelphia 76ers 2002–2003 New Jersey Nets 2003–2004 New York Knicks 2004–2009 Houston Rockets Career highlights and awards 8× NBA All-Star (1992, 1995–1998, 2000–2002) All-NBA Second Team (2001) 2× All-NBA Third Team (1998, 2002) 4× NBA Defensive Player of the Year (1995, 1997, 1998, 2001) 3× NBA All-Defensive First Team (1997–1998, 2001) 3× NBA All-Defensive Second Team (1995, 1999, 2002) NBA All-Rookie First Team (1992) 2× NBA rebounding leader (2000–2001) 3× NBA blocks leader (1994–1996)
Clyde is more of a Houston legend given his role in PSJ and his work with the Rockets over the last 20 years.
Clyde is a hometown hero ---------- This is not the first time people are being contrarians Y'all need to get over it and accept that this organization has chosen to embrace certain individuals
That's a hell of a All-Time 1st & 2nd Team First: BC - Calvin Murphy BC -Clyde Drexler FC - Rudy T FC - Moses Malone FC - Hakeem Olajuwon Second: BC - Steve Francis BC - Tracy McGrady FC - Ralph Sampson FC - Elvin Hayes FC - Yao Ming
Are we seriously arguing if Deke will be most remembered as a Rocket? No, he was a backup here to Yao. His prime was in Denver and Atlanta. Half the time I forget he was here. Great choices by the Rockets!
