Old Crow Medicine Show - Big Iron World
    Wilco - Kicking Television
    Willie Nelson - Shotgun Willie
    Ryan Adams - III/IV

At the moment I'm absolutely in love with the sound of lap steel and resonator slide. I get people don't like country music. I used to be the same way. I think the really offputting thing is the comic book "super redneck" affect that mainstream country feels compelled to adopt so everybody can prove that they are "more country" than the next guy. I guess I never really disliked country music, it's just the people who liked it were so off-putting. In the 70's, though, there was none of that BS. Young country musicians were a bunch of hipster dope smoking hippies.

But if you have any inclination at all, Shotgun Willie is an amazing album, my favorite country album ever and Willie's best. The title song is a country song built around a really slow sort of funky groove, which is kind of a weird thing for a country song. For some reason I can't fathom, it's out of print, but the full album is available on Youtube:

Also, anybody care to opine on the best Ryan Adams album? I'm going to get something else to listen to. I love Whiskeytown, and III/IV is ok, but from what I understand it is very atypical. It is the only album I see of his that is a free download for Prime customers. It definitely doesn't sound like Whiskeytown at all. I want to give his consensus best a nice long audition.

I like Whiskeytown as well, but my favorite solo/Cardinals album is Cold Roses. I don't think it's the consensus favorite (which might be Gold), but I always go back to it. Favorite track: Let It Ride.

    Faust - Faust
Harmonia - Tracks and Traces (with Brian Eno!!)

I'm going to take a break from the Krautrock and start back with a little free jazz, no wave, Magma's MDK trilogy, and then hit the post-punk pretty hard again. :)
