he has some trouble staying in front of pg's on penetration, and passes up open 3's too often. but i'm liking the way he runs the break and directs traffic in the halfcourt

Well when Dwight gets back its a must we play Prigs since he is likely the only player on the team who can make a post pass

Furthermore I'm LOVING Prigs with the second unit. His fast fits the run and gun downhill fast tempo style.. but sometimes they get trapped in half court and so that 2nd unit is also made for the pick and roll with such a large court spread.. he the the PERFECT PG for that unit.. he was the general for that second unit and Brewer EXPLODED-- he made everyone's game better

Prigs is an ideal back up point guard. He can run an offense, he protects the ball, is an exceptional shooter and an underrated defender.

Old and slow ?! How many guys do you see beat Brewer down the court on the break ?! .... Much less old slow guys beating Brewer down the court on the break.

He played smart, which is undoubtably our biggest need from our PG's lately.

I like Prigioni. He knows his role, makes the right pass, runs the pick and roll, underated defender, and just calms down the offense. He knows where to be and he knows how to get people in the right spot. He does have some trouble staying in front of guys, but with Howard coming back, mistakes will be erased. You can tell he has been doing his homework since he joined the Rockets. I'm not sold on starting him, however, I think he brings the real PG element we are lacking. This guy needs minutes.

It was his first real run with any of our units, first or second.

I think he handled the minutes well and could become exactly what Morey expected when he gave up what he did for Prigs.

Everyone up in arms about the guy is soon gonna be praising him. Not that he's an allstar, by no means is he that caliber, but he will provide improvement's on what Bev was lacking so far this season.

    Solid pick up.

    Agreed.

An example of reality being filtered through preconceptions.

Signs of a veteran PG who knows to play the game -- setting up the half court offense or running the break, you just feel at ease, like everything is going to be in its right place and a good look is gonna be had.

Hard to say the same about Beverly/Terry.

Though Beverly certainly has his +'s, lets not kid ourselves.

Honestly I was mad at McHale for pulling him out in the 4th and putting Terry back in. The offense just seems so under control when Prigioni has the ball. My biggest fear with this team with a normal lead late in a game is that they start turning the ball over and waste possessions to let the other team back in it. Which they did last night.

I like that you can put Prigs out there, give him the ball and feel comfortable that he isn't going to just turn it over or just dribble around until he loses the ball.

I've been wanting that for years now. Someone who could come in and keep everyone calm, protect the ball, understand their role, maintain pace, keep players on task, put the 2nd unit in good scoring positions... I would have settled for Andre Miller I felt we needed it so badly. I'm not sure how good Prig is or if he has the capacity to show up in the playoffs on both ends, but I'm crossing my fingers. We add that aspect to this team and we're that much better.

Pretty much THIS. He's not capable of guarding the truly quick/athletic PGs in this league. So even though he's got great hands and knows how to get steals, his D is still a bit of a question mark for me. His tendency to pass up good looks is also a little annoying, he's a 40% 3P shooter who needs to be more aggressive.

Terry is an undersized 2 who's a scorer first. Bev is a hustle guard with limited Point skills. Harden is a combo guard who leads the league in scoring. We needed someone who thinks "pass first" and knows how to run sets/direct traffic. That's Prigs. He's a true QB out there.

I want to see Prigs/Harden more though. Harden is the man but he ISO-balls more than anyone else in the league and having a guy like Prigs who moves the ball around should help Harden not have to create for himself so much.

prigs so far has shown smarts, good passing, good shooting as a pg. kinda pathetic and sad but it's the first time in a long time the rockets have had this from the pg position.

I don't think the Rockets give up 2 picks for him without getting feedback from McHale that he's going to play him over Terry as the PG and move Terry over to SG. I think he plays quite a bit over the next couple weeks.

exactly this. everyone is figuring out minutes when bev comes back but there's minutes that can be taken from harden and probably should be. look what the 2nd unit did without harden last night. i love harden but the 2nd unit and their change of pace is a killer and a great contrast to the half court set with harden. plus harden deserves a bit more rest.

Did you not see his steals, presence on D, and overall facilitation in relation to the pace?

I know people say this, but his positioning seems to be so smart that he is unlikely to get exposed unless you run him out there too much. I didn't see him get blown by yesterday.

I think people THINK because he's old he can't keep up with athletic guards, but you aren't trusting what the statistics and the actual tape shows. He kind of reminds me of Battier defensively. Makes up for his age and lack of athleticism by making the right decision on defense most of the time.

He is at least the equal of Andre Miller, although Miller has playoff experience.

I hope Prigioni's 3 point percentage will go up in addition to his playmaking ability.
