I have doubted the Spurs, but I seriously can't see the Spurs making much noise in the playoffs this year. Whoever they get OKC or Memphis, it will be hell for them to beat all these teams in the West now.

OKC is nearly impossible for them to play.

i think there is a decent chance it gets ugly for them this year in the playoffs. meaning if a team plays well, they may wipe the floor with the spurs.

They appear to be finally running out of gas. What a great run.

Hopefully they decide to rebuild and that Kawhi isn't a cornerstone piece and we can do a sign and trade for him.

4 of the 5 losses have been to very good teams. When you look at their home records, they were all gonna be tough wins.

    Golden St. (24-2)
    Portland (24-6)
    Clippers (23-8)
    Toronto (21-9)

I'm not saying that I expect them win it all, but I've long since stopped counting them out. It will happen eventually, but I won't believe it until I see it.

Is Kawhi a restricted free agent this summer? If so, hopefully someone throws a max deal at him and forces the Spurs to either overpay him or let him go.

Regardless, Father Time may have finally caught up with them. You can only roll out an aging core like that for so long before the rest of the conference surpasses them. It happens to every great team. Just ask the Showtime Lakers, Bird's Celtics, and Isiah's Pistons.

The Rockets were a 7th seed when they won their 2nd straight championship. Keep that in mind, thanks.

You're not gonna get honorary 99'er status at this rate.

I'd love to have the championship finals MVP at our 3 spot. Wonder what that'd take...

Well the first step would be the Spurs deciding they wouldn't want to max him out. If they decide they want to move on from him and start a rebuild, then you have to convince him to come here.

If both of those things happen, the rest is pretty easy. Spurs could do a sign and trade for Ariza the NOP pick and Papa's non-guaranteed contract with whatever other draft considerations they wanted. No that isn't a good trade for them, but this isn't them moving him under contract, it's them deciding not to re-sign him.

Crazy thing is Duncan hasn't been playing bad at all.

They were the 6th seed. And they had the best player on the planet(other than MJ) at the time. Duncan may be having a great season given his age, but he cannot carry them the way Dream did in '95. Neither can anyone else on the Spurs.
