I agree with what JVG said on the telecast, Dwight at 60% will be sufficient enough for us to make a real.push in the playoffs.
Dwight just needs to play defense and be a garbage man on offense. That will be better than the old dwert
only if he decides to just anchor the defense and go for offensive rebounds. if he comes back and demands touches in the post we won't be any better.
Coach speak. He just wants the players to be ready for the worse as in not playing with Dwight at all for the rest of the year.
Coach McHale is a lot smarter than the detractors on here. Have any of you ever heard of "managing expectations"?
JVG said if we don't get Dwight at the best we've ever seen him, we aren't going to win a championship.
I'm keeping my expectations low, and generally speaking I agree that even a 60% Dwight helps us out tremendously. But I'm still a firm believer that "dominant Dwight" still exists. He might only display this dominance in spurts and pockets of play, but his numbers against Portland in the playoffs last year suggest he's still very much capable of an extremely high level of play with similar physical limitations.
This team is built around Harden at this point. If Dwight plays a garbageman type of role, he could be getting 20-20 games like D. Jordan. Even not being 100 percent, Dwight is still more athletic then most big men. Dwight's biggest issue is not playing to his strengths. Coaching staff is to blame for not demanding this out of him as well.
Lol I do not understand the Mchale hate. I think he's doing a great job. He's obviously giving us wins. And I bet you he's a great teacher and has valuable knowledge to help players improve during practise not just coaching in games. Good player/coach.
This is very true. DH in the playoffs, with days off in between the games is a different animal than in the regular season. He can be dominant and can make the difference in series, even if not at 100%, but I would think you'd have to let D-Mo pick up a bunch of minutes at the 5 down the stretch and in the playoffs in order to keep DH fresh. I don't see a problem with that.
Coach is just letting his players and fan base know the worst case scenario. So calm down people. As you seen in these past 3 games both Dmo and Jones have played remarkably well. Basically told them, big fellas I need for you to play as if Dwight isn't coming back. And if he does it's a good chance he might not be the same due to rust. Preparation good peeps. That's all
