Although I disagree with the notion of trying to make such things illegal, I do understand the sentiment behind it.. some of these people making these clothing items are obviously deliberately doing it in such a way as to make a person appear to be naked. However, saying 'all' Yoga pants should be illegal?? Come on man, Yoga Pants are God's GIFT to men! Why are you trying to mess that up??
We used to say that spandex (that's 80s speak for yoga pants) was privilege and not a right. Given the context of the proposed law (a specific response to a naked bike ride) I suspect the yoga pants comment was tongue in cheek. Dumb law, but good promo for next yrs ride. Head on over next year if you like naked hippies on bikes.

Really an excellent post, CH, one I very much agree with. I don't agree with your later blurb, however, that "It's all well and good not to care about other people." I couldn't disagree more, and perhaps you were being sarcastic, but a heck of a lot of folks in this country, particularly those of the Far Right, do feel that way. Oh, and I noticed some mention of "naked hippies riding bikes." What's wrong with that? OK, so maybe they aren't really hippies. Who cares? I was back in the '60's, and we got naked every chance we got. Countless trips from Houston to Austin, mainly for the chance to skinny dip at Pale Face Park on Travis, where the Pedernales runs into the lake. The coves there were "naked hippie central," and we had a particular cove we went to very frequently. Yeah, naked at the lake, then great music at the clubs. Austin was such a far out town back then. A good friend of ours who was both a hippie and a nudist had a small house close to Mount Bonnell. It was one of the places we stayed when we weren't camping at Pale Face. We'd arrive at night after driving up from H-town, knock on the door, and he'd answer wearing nothing but a hat with a feather in it, like Flynn wore in Robin Hood, smoke would come pouring out, Hendrix cranked up on the stereo, and a good half dozen chicks sitting around the living room on pillows with 3 or 4 guys (the ratio was always beautiful, our friend was connected) naked, and they looked good naked. Not everyone can pull it off, to say the least. I know I've mentioned this before. Good times, people.

Unfortunately, this isn't nuttery - this is just another example of the GOP waging real class warfare on everyone not making a gazillion dollars. You can bet however that conservatives will argue that this tax break is the divine right of the rich as they are "job creators."
Many of these same conservatives will also go to church frequently , read the Bible and pray a lot and consider themselves to be such good Christians.

I don't see why that is nuttery or a bizarre question. The doctor arguing for abortion Rx via webcam made the comparison to a colonoscopy being done that way, not the lawmaker. The lawmaker then asked a question designed to demonstrate that the two things aren't the same. Seems to me that if you are pro-abortion you see that as nuttery just because you are pro-abortion and anyone who is anti-abortion is seen that way.
I really hope nobody is pro-abortion. I can kinda understand the women's body argument but being pro-abortion is just sick.
