Although I disagree with the notion of trying to make such things illegal, I do understand the sentiment behind it.. some of these people making these clothing items are obviously deliberately doing it in such a way as to make a person appear to be naked.

However, saying 'all' Yoga pants should be illegal?? Come on man, Yoga Pants are God's GIFT to men! Why are you trying to mess that up??

We used to say that spandex (that's 80s speak for yoga pants) was privilege and not a right.

Given the context of the proposed law (a specific response to a naked bike ride) I suspect the yoga pants comment was tongue in cheek.

Dumb law, but good promo for next yrs ride. Head on over next year if you like naked hippies on bikes.

Really an excellent post, CH, one I very much agree with. I don't agree with your later blurb, however, that "It's all well and good not to care about other people." I couldn't disagree more, and perhaps you were being sarcastic, but a heck of a lot of folks in this country, particularly those of the Far Right, do feel that way. That says a lot about them, none of it good.

EDIT: I just realized that this is a bumped 4 year old thread. Why'd it get bumped? Because of the excellent title? Oh, and I noticed some mention of "naked hippies riding bikes." What's wrong with that? OK, so maybe they aren't really hippies. Who cares? I was back in the '60's, and we got naked every chance we got. Countless trips from Houston to Austin, mainly for the chance to skinny dip at Pale Face Park on Travis, where the Pedernales runs into the lake. The coves there were "naked hippie central," and we had a particular cove we went to very frequently. Yeah, naked at the lake, then great music at the clubs. Austin was such a far out town back then.

A good friend of ours who was both a hippie and a nudist had a small house close to Mount Bonnell. It was one of the places we stayed when we weren't camping at Pale Face. We'd arrive at night after driving up from H-town, knock on the door, and he'd answer wearing nothing but a hat with a feather in it, like Flynn wore in Robin Hood, smoke would come pouring out, Hendrix cranked up on the stereo, and a good half dozen chicks sitting around the living room on pillows with 3 or 4 guys (the ratio was always beautiful, our friend was connected) naked, and they looked good naked. Not everyone can pull it off, to say the least. I know I've mentioned this before. Good times, people.

IL Governor Rauner Gets $750,000 Tax Break, Proposes Slashing Services to Middle Class and Poor
    http://www.huffingtonpost.com/robert-creamer/il-governor-rauner-gets-7_b_6742500.html

Illinois' new GOP Governor, Bruce Rauner, will personally receive a $750,000 per year tax cut as a result of his decision not to continue the state's temporary 1.25% income tax surcharge that expired last year.

...Rauner, who made $61 million in 2013 - or $29,000 per hour - is one of a small group of multi-millionaire speculators who would directly benefit enormously from lower state tax rates. Among them is his friend Ken Griffin, reputedly the wealthiest man in Illinois, who contributed $2.5 million to Rauner's campaign for Governor - and has also pitched in $10 million to a $20 million campaign war chest that Rauner plans to use to run opponents to members of the Legislature that oppose his policies.....

Rauner proposed six billion dollars in cuts for state spending on universities, health care, local governments and pensions for state employees.

    Here are some high points:

Limiting eligibility for Department of Aging Community Care Programs.
Cutting health care benefits for homecare workers.
Slashing funding for the Department of Children and Family Services.
Eliminating all Department of Children and Family services for youths 18-21.
Cutting adult dental and podiatry services as well as kidney transplants for undocumented children.
Eliminating exemptions for drugs for severe mental illness from a state 4-prescription limit.
Reducing payments to facilities for children on ventilators, supportive living facilities and children with severe mental illness.
Cutting Medicaid spending by1.5 billion - including 735 million in cuts to hospitals serving Medicaid patients.
Eliminating assistance to families with Hemophilia.
Freezing intakes on childcare for children over 6.
Increasing childcare copays for working parents.
$27.5 million in reductions to community substance abuse programs.
$82 million reduction to community mental health programs.
Eliminating State funding for specific organizations providing: - Services for people with disabilities - Services to children with autism - Services to homeless young people - Services to run away teenagers - Immigrant integration services - Advanced placement classes - After school programs - Agricultural education - Arts and foreign language programs - Parent mentoring - Safe Schools initiatives
Cuts to breast and cervical cancer programs.
And a 31.5% cut to higher education.

Unfortunately, this isn't nuttery - this is just another example of the GOP waging real class warfare on everyone not making a gazillion dollars. You can bet however that conservatives will argue that this tax break is the divine right of the rich as they are "job creators."

Can you explain why a tax cut is in any way "class warfare"?

Many of these same conservatives will also go to church frequently , read the Bible and pray a lot and consider themselves to be such good Christians.

I don't see why that is nuttery or a bizarre question. The doctor arguing for abortion Rx via webcam made the comparison to a colonoscopy being done that way, not the lawmaker. The lawmaker then asked a question designed to demonstrate that the two things aren't the same.

Seems to me that if you are pro-abortion you see that as nuttery just because you are pro-abortion and anyone who is anti-abortion is seen that way.

I really hope nobody is pro-abortion. I can kinda understand the women's body argument but being pro-abortion is just sick.

It's really not funny because the end result is a decision to take a human life.

Nevada Republican says cancer is a fungus you can flush out with salt water
    http://www.rawstory.com/rs/2015/02/...ush-out-with-salt-water/#.VO01jFjYBv5.twitter

Nevada state Assemblywoman Michele Fiore (R) plans to introduce a bill she said would provide more options for cancer patients — but actually relies on what medical experts call a myth, Think Progress reported.

“If you have cancer, which I believe is a fungus, and we can put a pic line into your body and we’re flushing with, say, salt water, sodium cardonate through that line and flushing out the fungus,” Fiore said on her radio show over the weekend. “These are some procedures that are not FDA-approved in America that are very inexpensive, cost-effective.”

As Ralston Reports noted, Fiore likely meant to say “sodium bicarbonate,” commonly known as baking soda......

.....The assemblywoman, who accused federal officials last year of “coming up” with the grazing fees that spurred their dispute with rancher Cliven Bundy, introduced another bill last week that would allow licensed gun owners to carry firearms on college campuses within the state, saying it would prevent “young, hot little girls on campus” from sexual assaults.
