    Damn.

Was hoping this bump was about Qatar not hosting.

Sad about Gus Johnson. Oh well. Rather espn/abc Mickey Mouse channel kept the World Cup. They did a damn good job.

Gus tried. That's as courteous as I can be about his soccer commentating.

Looks like 2022 will be in the winter...despite a better idea from the Euro teams, associations, and players saying that spring would be better.

FIFA would rather disrupt major domestic league seasons, leave money on the table for the 2026 television rights and continue to allow countless slaves in Qatar to die before they admit they were wrong in "awarding" the 2022 tournament to a country just as corrupt as they are.

Here is a really interesting story that appeared in Slate earlier this month about the Handball World Cup that was held earlier this year in Qatar. When viewing that tournament as a dress rehearsal for the 2022 World Cup, it's interesting to see Qatar continue to bribe and and buy their way onto the global sports scene.

Exactly. So will I. They know the World Cup is an inelastic product.

Everyone tries to do as they please and as it fits them. I don't really care what month, day, time, country, I'm watching me some fútbol for 65 games. I'm with bnb... and won't bash anyone for corrup this or other... because we really can't do anything about it... or can we?

Why won't you bash them for their corruption, Swoly? Does modern day slavery not deserve at least some public outcry?

What slavery? I am unaware. Are some workers not getting paid somewhere? Are people selling other people? What are we talking about here? Seriously speaking... who is it that is doing that, FIFA or Qatar's peeps? Is your beef with FIFA or Qatar? Or is it with not getting the World Cup in the U.S. and A.?

And, to answer your question, my beef is with FIFA and Qatar. That is not an either/or proposition. FIFA is, likely, the most corrupt body in international sports, narrowly edging out the IOC. It's gotten to the point that nobody wants to even bid on the 2022 Olympics because the process is so corrupt.

And, yes, I'm upset that the US' bid was rejected in favor of Qatar's. It's so very obvious that FIFA was bribed by Qatari officials and, when looking at the cost of these events, it's obvious that FIFA would choose the most expensive, illogical host. When events like the Sochi Olympics cost $51 billion, the only countries willing to pay for these boondoggles are the ones with no public oversight. That's the kind of partner FIFA wants to work with.

The US' bid would've used existing stadiums, not caused the death of over 4,000 people who've had their passports and wages seized and not disrupted the domestic leagues of Europe. FIFA knowingly "selected" a country with temperatures so high and unsafe in the summer that they now have to play the tournament in the winter, upending the domestic seasons of England, France, Spain, Germany, Italy, etc. That's a lot of money lost for a lot of people, all because FIFA is so corrupt and incapable of admitting it was wrong in selecting Qatar. Oh, and giving us the pleasure of seeing the 109th ranked team in the world play in a tournament they'd never dream of participating in before.

LOLs. Y'all are still going to watch the games, no matter in what country it is played, no matter on what month, no matter on what channel.

Spare me the humanitarian stuff... it's still going to be played... y'all are still going to buy "[your home country] World Cup jerseys" and that's IF they go. Stop lying to yourselves. Corruption wasn't going to stop at giving the bid to the U.S. and A. Anyway, I think I've stated my points. Y'all want to continue to do some protests or some picketing, go ahead. I won't.

Yeah, who cares about 1,200 dead people when that means you can watch Mexico lose in the Round of 16 again, right? That pesky "humanitarian stuff" just pales in comparison to that thrill.

God, you're the worst. None of what you have said invalidates my points.

We'll see if you'll even get the chance to watch when your beloved El Tri needs another helping hand to qualify.

^ How did I know you would bring that up, with NOTHING TO DO with your points? LOLs.

Fine. I hope the U.S. and A. takes out Mexico in the group stage because U.S.A. will be a seed. <-- happy?

Deaths and slavery and bad working conditions won't stop peeps from USA from watching.

While I agree that the conditions are deplorable, are you implying that people from other countries will be boycotting viewing of this world cup?
