Just checked the results -- yeah, IDA! That's an awesome decision by the academy.

Also happy for Arquette -- she was incredible.

My bad, I figured since Donald Trump made a stink about it you would to. Glad you don't see it that way.

12 Years a Slave was one of the most overrated movies EVER, with the most deliberately pretentious Direction I have ever seen. American Sniper and Selma are too. Its the controversy that makes them "big"

Birdman and Grand Budapest are the real MVP.

Disagree. 12 years a slave was a great film. I liked Gravity too, but mostly for the effects. It's storyline doesn't touch 12 years a slave. Agree on Selma and AS being overrated. I mostly liked AS because of Cooper's performance.

Did y'all catch the President of the Academy lady saying Boyhood was filmed in "rural Texas"? I did not realize Houston, Austin, and San Marcos were rural.

In all fairness she may have never visited Texas. If you just go by the film, one can make the assumption that half the film is in more rural parts of the state.

12 Years a Slave had powerful performances...at least one from Michael Fassbender. Gravity was visually stunning. Did it make you think deeper and all that stuff? Nope but it was a great movie to look at and a great movie to watch.

I have Birdman in queue and I loved Grand Budapest but how is it any greater than Anderson's previous films? I'd argue that Royal Tenenbaums and Moonrise Kingdom were on par or better than Gand Budapest. I guess what I'm saying is that if Grand Budapest were to have won best picture, it would have been more of a "Wes Anderson is due" award than anything else.

One thing that stood out...Wes Anderson has brown teeth and needs to go for a whitening. ;)

I think they need to find some new blood as far as hosts and quit recycling these guys.

I try to change the channel when the camera catches stuff like this. I always imagine the person later getting word, somehow, and being mortified/embarrassed.

I think they just need to give Tina and amy pohler all the awards. They are the best.

Or just get Steve Martin or billy crystal to host, they never dissapoint

They're old... yes, they've been pretty ageless over the years, but they've both curtailed their national public appearances over the last few years, and both looked a step slow on the SNL 40 special.

Isn't this Jimmy Kimmel's show to lose? ABC has a vested interest in it.

Those are decent hosts, but no one under the age of 25 have even heard of them.
