Actually, you are the only one saying Smith went for the money, when everyone else says it was for other reasons. "Of course, you always have the option to dismiss that if it doesn't suit your opinion." basically, he gets $400k or so more for a BEA or (matching portion of an MLE) than Vet Min. You know what percentage $400k is of Josh's full salary this year (Detroit and Houston combined), like 2.6%.
Jsmith, Brewer, Prigioni, and McDaniels adds quite a bit of depth..... Who were we going all in for? Dragic wasn't going to sign here..... So who is it that we didn't go all in for????
I stated something that is undoubtedly true. Most players take the most money. That's much different from disregarding opinions based on nothing but speculation.
Regular fans doesn't know what's going on behind the scenes. We are not even on the outside looking in. We see what they want us to see and what WE want to see. The sad thing is there's a lot of bias and wrong opinions that can muddle the truth. Some fans act like the management don't know what the're doing. I think that's pretty insulting and ignorant. It's always better to decide once you already know the outcome. But it doesn't always work that way and guess what... things happen, you don't always get what you want. I get the frustrations but being frustrated accomplishes nothing - so does complaining. Positive vibes.
Lol, I'm dying...maybe those jerseys will get retired and put in the rafters to serve as signs of Maury's legacy once he's gone.
Haha true. But adding a bunch tweeners does makes us better defensively (hard to gauge without Dwight) and more athletic. However, we are certainly better on paper than before the start of the season. Injuries have made it pretty hard to gauge how good we really are.
You are disrespecting them. Les Alexander needs to make a statue of those two great players next to Hakeem's.
Sure did. Did we beat the 2nd seed of the East tonight, who share the same record? If so, did we beat them bad enough to put in the end of the bench....?
I admit that I didn't read all 8 pages of this thread, but the OP complained that Morey doesn't believe enough in Howard to build around him. No sh#t. I don't believe in Howard either. Who really believes Howard is going to come back as a superstar and put the team on his shoulders? Let's be realistic. All we have is Harden. As great as he is, he alone is not enough to take us to the promised land. It isn't time to go all in. We don't have a window of opportunity right now. Howard's injury has set us back a few steps.
Great points Carl. When does cap and asset take a backseat to going for it all? It makes the team good enough to put butts in the seats, which makes Les happy. Carl, what happens at the end though? When happens when cap and asset are no longer? Does Morey move on?
people forget that Morey's trade deadline is all season long, he has given us a bench that we didn't have at the start of the season he has slowly added to this team and as evident today, we have a good bench and like i said we just need to get our roster healthy
When you are ready to go all in. Maybe not the best time when your other "star" player has been injured all season. Especially, not the best time when there is no one available at the deadline to go all in for... There is no end. Perhaps you should look at how the Spurs operate and you may notice how flexible they are despite having the same 3 players for a decade. This isn't some Morey phenomenon, we resemble the Spurs a lot in how we operate. Obviously having 3 future hall of famers playing together for many, many years produces different results on top of the best coach of our generation.
For all this talk about cap flexibility, I think Morey has quietly put together a team that can do some serious damage in the playoffs if healthy. Morey's made a lot of little offseason and midseason additions - most of which really impress me to be honest - and they just need time to gel with the rest of the team. Unfortunately Howard being out has kept that from happening for the most part, but McHale's done a great job integrating everyone on the fly. Gotta give the coach credit for getting Smith to buy in 100% for example. But in terms of complementary talent, this bunch can truly be a darkhorse come playoffs IMHO. And they've got half a season to put it all together and develop chemistry, which isn't a bad timeline, as long as Howard can come back full force.
